Rant/vent...damn foreigners!

I've been having a great weekend. It started on Sunday morning...we left for Puncak to stay at a villa for a couple nights.

What's funny here is that I'm always aware of my being white. If I'm around a bunch of Indonesians, it's ok, I don't mind too much. If I'm mixed between all sorts of people from all over the world I feel like I blend in. But today at Taman Safari I was aware that I was the only white guy there and was surrounded by Arabs. It's ok, just don't want them to think I've got anything against them because I'm american. How would they know I was american? Ohh... the way I speak, the way my T-Shirt had George W Bush on it and how it also says "George W Bush has AIDES".

Okok but really what I wanted to talk about was this... At 5pm, someone was trying to get their kid who is shorter than 130cm onto the sky bike ride. The guy happened to be Arab. He was very upset that his child was not allowed to go on the ride. He took off his shoe and went to hit the attendant with it. At first i thought it was just silly...but then it escalated, the Arab started trying to kick the attendant. The Arab's wife or some female (cant tell, could only see eye's through the eye slit), was yelling. I felt the urge to run up there to stop him but... damnit...here I am stuck trying to do the right thing but not get into some trouble. Security guys came over very slowly. They were just walking normally... my wife told them to hurry up but they just walked over.

I feel terrible for the worker, it's not exactly the best job in the world and it's even worse when you have ungrateful guests. Shoot, my nephew was told that he was too small for the ride, i didn't throw a hissyfit... i told him it's ok (nggak apa-apa) and then had my nephew go to his mom.

I really wish tourists, i mean actual tourists, not to be confused with those of us who actually live here and call Indonesia home, would chill out and not be dicks. I don't care where you come from, just treat people with respect and follow the rules. Very simple. Maybe this guy had other things going on in his life...bad day...bad month...maybe he's from an area that's in deep conflict, who knows...but still...don't be a dick as a tourist.

I can't help but to think that this guy did it out of sense of superiority. South and South East Asians have been going to wealthy Arab countries for decades to do menial labor, so he's used to seeing brown skinned guys as servants. There's a reason Indonesian gov't decided to stop domestic labor programs into 21 middle eastern countries last year.

I can almost guarantee you he's not going to pull that crap in Disney World.

I had to laugh at the Arab taking his shoe off, but not at the situation, when I was in Saudi and and witness two Arabs having an accident they don't have a good fight, they take their Jesus boots off and belt each other, quite funny, but I do think the Arabs behavior was quite despicable, I think a good knuckle sandwich would do

I was thinking about this whole servitude thing as well. I see places like Abu Dhabi and think about all the people who work there and are treated like crap...you know... The ones who make it nice?

I remember that, I think George was smirking at the casual way he just moved his head to avoid a good throw which would have otherwise hit him in the face ...... reminded me of a clip I once saw of The Sex Pistols playing at some bar in Texas (I think) where the bass player avoided a flying beer can in the same manner as George avoided the flying shoe.

I can also tell you that in these sexy girl clubs more than a few times Arabs suddenly don't have enough money to pay for the girls and booze come closing the bill time. Its ok though because as soon as security knows these Arabs are Saudis they have no problem to beat the shit out of them if they don't pay. Why? Well its because being Saudi they cannot call the police because the Saudi Embassy will get involved and what the hell were they doing in such a place? LOL

From what I remember about Thailand, rooftop and balcony deaths were always classified as suicides after police investigations

I'm afraid some Thais, Indians, Indonesians, Pakistanis, Sri Lankans are treated very badly, so some on return to their home country extract revenge, I don't intend to write a whole thread about Saudi, but all the aforementioned are classified as TCNs, Third Country Nationals, so can be treat almost as slaves, and one does hear and see how horrible some are treated, at the moment there are 10,000 Indians who haven't been paid by their company for seven months and are now being fed by the Indian embassy, nice place

I'd strongly suggest that they lock the ahole up for such actions. Really horrid to treat an employee doing their job in such a manner.
