Prisoners Come and Go When They Please

I find it somewhat ironic that you say that. Indeed, the judges are paid to give the kind of sentence they give. Fortunately some people are concerned by that and question the leniency of said sentences and the conditions in which they are executed.

;) glad you saw the irony.
Let's just say that Indonesia is not alone in such matters- it just seems more transparent here.

Humans are human - greed , corruption and the not so pretty parts of being human are still all parts of being human.
We can all ideally strive for utopia- but it ain't going to happen in my lifetime or yours A. There is a whole lot of lipservice paid to transparency & accountability and so on, but reality is if you have money you have privileges that those with no money ain't going to ever have.
I figure if you look in the other jails you will see this kind of hierarchy going on amongst the prisoners, there will be a top dog. Basic human nature.

Look at Trump, look at GW Bush (helps to get US presidency when your brother is Gov of Florida) take a look at just about any country & that is how it is- doesn't make it nice or right or anything- just how life is.

Notwithstanding Indonesia's imponderable justice transparency and logic..which we can dispute....to suggest Jeb Bush (GW Bush' 7 years junior brother) was the enabler to make GW Bush the 43rd President of USA beggars belief.

Jeb Bush became Gov. of Florida in 1999 and his brother became President some 18 months later. How the former seriously influenced the latter I just find difficult to accept as a truism...maybe it's one of those alternative facts we hear about.

Here is a link to the election for President from Florida...there is NO reference to the Governor having any influence.....

The point being, Davita, that the lot of em all shake hands with each other & broker back room deals & network with their little cliques.
has happened for centuries & will continue to happen. (I am far from being an expert on anything to do with US politics- so I apologise if I made an error referencing the Bushes- dad former president, bro a governor... hmmm)

Look at the presidencies/ ruling families globally- nepotism abounds- look at the families in politics- how often do you get a newbie in that has no connections... the current buffoon notwithstanding- he has his own thing going on.
Money & power & connections is what governs politics- not policies.

& for the record- I am not defending it/ any of it- just saying how I see it.
In an ideal world there would be a level playing field for all no matter what country & the people who have the the nations /citizen's best interests at heart should be the one's to govern- but ain't ever going to happen in my lifetime- the "establishment " is established and is very secure in its deep foundations.
