MERP Extension Online

I'm a KITAP holder and I'm currently overseas. I was planning to return to Indonesia before my MERP expires in mid-March but that won't be possible unfortunately. The KITAP expires in November this year. I will most likely return to Indonesia by then. Has anyone heard of a recent case where a MERP is extended while the KITAP holder is overseas? My wife managed to do it just after the Covid pandemic but apparently the rules are back to normal now.

Are you to bring a special envelope with you to this special Immigrasi person? :)
Well, it all went well. My agent gave a million to the immigration officer, who met and greeted me, walked me through immigration, gave me an arrival stamp [not a visit pass or VOA which would mess up the KITAP] and they were fully aware that my MERP was not done for COVID reasons, they were very kind and polite. I met with immigration and my agent [a very well know one] and like i say they could not have been more helpful really. I will visit tangerang immigration tomorrow to get my stamps up to date, I’ll repost here if any issues. The message is that if a MERP expires whilst somebody is out of Indonesia, it can be managed.

I have never heard of anyone winning in that situation. Every case I have ever heard of, they lost their KITAP and started all over at the beginning but obviously some types of concessions have been made (hence your KITAP while out of country). Hopefully you will get good news from your agent. Please let us know the outcome. Intersting case.
Hi Mate, it all went really well. I have received my KITAP stamp and MERP in my passport today. I went to the extra cost of a meet and greet service by my agent [satu Jt], who met me [prior to hopping into the queues] with the Immigration officer. Bit of confusion at the airport but luckily my agent brought all of the correspondence from the immigration office, so the unclear situation was made clear. I was taken to an office for about 30 minutes, then received an official arrival stamp [as opposed to a VOA or a visitors visa - which would indeed as you rightly state have invalidated the KITAP]. I have to say, the process, whilst stressful for me was dealt with properly, politely and efficiently by immigration officers, absolutely no question of back handers involved. The message to get out is this, (i) on line applications for MERPS has problems, didn’t work for me and clearly hasn’t worked for others in this blog. (ii) if your MERP does expire whilst out of country there are solutions which require a knowledgable friend or agent in Jakarta to represent you at the immigration office. I just told the truth as to why my MERP had expired whilst overseas and was treated sympathetically by the authorities. I can’t thank you guys enough for your advice, even the barbed comments were helpful in one way or another.
