I would be very grateful if I could get some answers to my question on a Kits.
I am a retired pensioner in Bali presently on a Kitas (my 2nd).
I have used an agent since my retirement to Bali.....I have since seen posts about DIY costs and agent costs and I am totally confused! so please forgive me if I sound even more confused in my questions!

How long does a DIY take..and can it be done on line? and how much?
My Kitas was recently renewed and so I have about 11 months left on it.....can I change to a Kitap after 1 year on Kitas?

The DIY sounds as though it may be time consuming process so maybe somebody could enlighten me on an actual run down of the DIY process? I have always used an agent but with the recent currency problems if I can save a few million doing it myself then that would seem the way to go.

Finally I have a good friend here who is on a Kitap...he paid over 35 million for his first Kitap and it is about to be renewed.....
Could somebody please enlighten me on whether he can get his renewal also using DIY?...and what is the process for him doing it?

I apologise for the long list of questions but I have to rely on the forum for honest answers!

Thank you very much for any help I can get.

Hi Brian, welcome to the forum.

Can you clarify whether you are on a retirement KITAS? If you are, unfortunately you will require an agent as they are required to sponsor you.

The cases for DIY KITAS/KITAP is usually spousal KITAS/KITAP (ie. you are sponsored by your legally married Indonesian spouse).

Brian, not knowing who sponsors you for your KITAS or friends KITAP, I can only advise you on spousel sponsored. If that is the case then to me, the DIY way is the way to go. You save a lot of cash. Yes, it does take more of your time but you said you were retired so I would think you have the time to do it yourself. Not that tge orocess takes more time, just the demands on your time is increased and of course a bit more stress because you are working with government agencies. Immigration and CatSip primarily.

If you are on a Retirement Visa then you have no choice in the matter. You have to have an approved retirement visa sponsor and you will be at their mercy for cost.

I am on a spouse KITAS. Will I need to bring everything like when I applied for a KITAS the first time or just fill out the application and tell them you have everything already?

Ha, ha, yes, they have everything but you will still need to provide all of it.

Well just as well I will be going to Solo in Nov so I can make copies of things.
They will want originals & copies. :)
& guaranteed the one document you either don't have or forget will be the one they insist they want xx best of luck with it though- I did all mine DIY (with hubby's help).

I know the last time, the letter from the embassy(right to marry) was a copy and they were ok with it.

I will have my wife with me and we will do a DIY again.

When dealing with any Government agency on any level here we find it very useful to take the copies we need, have a file with addition copies of the same and a few other forms, and a folder that has the originals. The only original you should need will be your Spouse Sponsor Letter with stamp. Always make sure you have at least two copies of anything you think you may need. I do not think you will need to go back to the embassy so hopefully you kept a copy of their form.

While it seems like a nuisance, bring everything, copies, and copies of the copies...the kind sirs at immigration will decide what they need or don't need (or may need...).

I had to type a new sponsor letter for my first KITAP, just because one of the senior officers woke up on a wrong side of his bed and decided that because I didn't put the word "Sponsor secara sukarela" (sponsor willingly)...the letter was not 'properly worded'.

Sometimes, also better to make color copies (or confirm with them)..I've killed a few trees because the kind immigration officers didn't tell me to do color....just told me "Photokopi ya 2 lembar".

I have never had Immigration ask for any color copies. What I have had when I had color copies is them given back and told they don't want original, just a copy.

sorry....cannot help myself.

Well, fortunately all that stuff is done with. Of course, i still have the KTP-OA to deal with but I'm just taking my time on that. Should be healed by that time. If not, I won't mind messing up the scanner.

Hi,
I'm on a spouse KITAS and I'm planning to extend it myself. Previously an agent took care of this so I'm not completely clear as to what documents (and of course photocopies) I should bring.

Could anyone outline the steps to take for this extension and which docs to bring?

FYI I'm in Denpasar

Hi Jstar,

What is the procedure to get the SKTT and where do I get this? Previous KITAS extension was done by agent so I'm searching for the right info myself this time.
Do I need the SKPTT card that is issued by my kepala desa (and extended every 3 months)?
