Hmm. See before believing.

Surprisingly the biometric passports work pretty well in the airport; first they scan the passport and then barcode of the boarding pass.

Then finger print scan and then ......... many think it’s an iris scan since they had to take their glasses off but in fact it’s taking a picture of the face according to a guy at customs. Not sure if a real automated facial recognition takes place or whether it’s just for in the files.

The weird thing is the biometric e-passport is an option (which costs almost double).

Hmm yes well, I'm glad I didn't pay almost double for my Australian biometric passport, it lasted 3 years & now doesn't work but I still have to go thru the motions of trying to scan it before I get sent to the manual operator.
