Imigrasi apartment raid

Hi everyone,

Just posting this as an FYI - my apartment building was raided by the imigrasi yesterday. After nearly 4 years living there it was the first time. We had no warning and they knew exactly what apartments to visit to check on the status of the foreigners. Thankfully I have all my papers in order so I was fine (even so they still knocked my door); I found out they seized a few passports. Overall I was quite impressed with them - they had a large team, some focusing on door knocking while others had set up a makeshift interview room downstairs where people were "invited" down to. They had a computer connected to their system with them to check the live immigration status of the people they found in the building.

Make sure that you have your papers in order and have registered in the place you live!

They arrived at my apartment around 5pm and seemed to be hanging around to get people as they came home from the office. As the building is so large with so many expats I assumed they would continue the raid over a few days - I'll see when I get home today.

Kuningan- they said they had been raiding other apartments nearby recently.

Getting near Idul Fitri, need to make some cash. Cynical maybe, but its an annual event. Know several places that have been subject to this in the last week. My office got 'raided' but everyone is legal, they kept digging trying to find anything at all. Office staff heard a few of them complaining outside that they were not going to get money from us and they should move on.
