Welcome, and I am also a newbie here, currently based in Lombok.

How is life in Lombok? I have never visited Lombok, but planning to visit Lombok next month. I just read an article about "Lombok promotes itself as 'Muslim-friendly' tourism destination" and realized that it was already 8 years old, but wondering ... also about

From what I recall the Gilis (just off the coast) are much more non-Muslim-friendly than the main Lombok island itself

Yes, if you want to party hard, then go to Gili Trawangan. Kuta Beach is also becoming popular now, and most of the hostels and hotels in touristic locations organise in-house parties.

Off course, there are plenty of places in Lombok to chill around, near Senggigi Beach or Mount Rinjani. Gili Air and Meno are also good places to relax if you don't want to party like in Trawangan.

Yes that's correct Lombok is called "the Island of Thousand Mosques," and you can find mosques within 100 metres and hear their five-time prayer anywhere you stay.

And Gili Trawangan is a better place to have a good party, and Kuta Beach is becoming next, but it can't be like Trawangan because there is no beachfront property.

Life here is much cool and peacful , less traffic than the cities, environment is also good , good people but yeah communication problem 90% don't speak english so i have to rely on my wife for now.

Ah, for alcohol, I can't say much as I have quit for a while, but yes, I didn't see any dedicated store just for alcohol. I know some stores that sell Bintang beer, but they don't display it in front or say they sell it. Most of the people I saw here drink local palm wine called Tuak. There are only a few good restaurants that serve alcohol, but only a few options are available.

Muslim women wear Hijab and yes they cover their legs too

Btw, that saying about Lombok was introduced some 50 years ago. They counted them once, in reality there are almost….. 9,000 !!!

Villa sayang is not really on the foothills of Rinjani; it's quite far from Rinjani.
If you're looking for quiet place on the foothill of Rinjani, very fresh air, no need aircon, with breathtaking view to Rinjani, I can recommend Rinjani Lodge in Senaru; overlooking senaru valley with Mt. Rinjani; within walking distance to tiu kelep water fall, in 2021 We stayed one night before climbing Mt. Rinjani; had good sleep; can't recall praying call from mosque.

And they are building more and more, I don't get why they need so many when there are still so many.
