Hi just wondering if anyone can provide information on the process times to get your passport & be allowed to travel abroad

I doubt things are any better now but it took over 3 months to convert from KITAS to KITAP earlier this year. My passport was with them the whole time so no way to go anywhere.

Thank you very much for your reply" i also thought they should allow min 3months as well.
Will definitely advise them to renew kitas 1st as they potentially travelling within next two months.

In the process of converting my Kitas to Kitap at the moment , been 2 months as of the 26/8/21 . Had home interview 2 weeks after submitting application , recieved and paid fee 2 weeks ago . Recieved email on the 24/8/21 to go to Immigration Office in Jember for biometrics "Photo's and fingerprints " only to be told it would be another 1-2 months as it hasn't been to The Director Generals Dept in Surabaya or Jakarta yet . So i'm looking at 3-4 months if there's no holdups . Meanwhile I've had no passport for two months and won't for another month or two . Local clinic won't give me the free Covid vaccination without a NIK , national ID number which the local government office won't let me apply for without the KITAP visa . Heard stories on here of others getting the NIK when they got the SKTT . My SKTT only has a record number from the local office which is not recorded nationally . Can't leave the region/state of Jawa Timur "South East Java" without a vaccination certificate at the moment and the run around to leave the country just seems to get more complicated everytime I look , tests , quarantine etc etc both ways .

Hope you haven't paid for the conversion yet . You'll have to start the Kitap process again if you leave the country on a Kitas . And no the money is not refundable . Had a friend from Jember wanted to travel back to Australia for a family funeral while waiting for his Kitap conversion , he'd paid . They told him the application would be cancelled , he'd get his passport back and he could travel on his Kitas if still valid or renew it again if within the 5year limit but would loose his money and have to start the conversion process again when he returned . If you need to renew your Kitas be aware, it took me just on 3 months to renew my last Kitas in October last year due to the new rules with the covid restrictions . Everything had to go through the Dept of Labour and Human Relations . Previous renewals took a maximum of 7 days !!

Did you ask for exemption to travel?

Mine took 10 working days. It could be quicker sometimes
