Not many people follow what the FPI are doing so I though I would start a thread to keep any interested parties up to date.

https://news.detik.com/berita/3991408/novel-bamukmin-sanggah-politikus-pdip-saya-tidak-dipecat-fpi

Novel Bamukmin says he hasn't been removed from the FPI, but Erwin Moeslimin Singajuru says he has.
Doesn't sound like much by way of news but recent internal FPI history shows it as important.

Some member of the FPI have claimed there has been violence against them, some people claiming it was government agencies or anti Muslims forces trying to get them, but this suggests the possibility of an internal power struggle, further suggesting the violence dismissed as fake has the possibility of being real, but committed by others.

An well known politician meeting a man under suspicion of serious offences is something that really could use an explanation.
Unfortunately, the explanation was given by a man who claims he wasn't dismissed from the FPI so it's a bit hard to understand what happened and why.

On the subject of explanations, I love a clarification on who exactly is paying for these expensive rooms.

It’s very strange how and who is sponsoring Rizieq’s visa, considering he has a charge of porno hanging over him, must be a Saudi with lots of cash in a high position who has a vested interest in the FPI, the Saudis are well know for dispensing vast sums of money to influence Islam in various musilim countries

Foreign interference in Indonesian politics - but some Indonesians are happy as long as they get a slice of the cake

No names mentioned

Why are those guys wearing white coats? Looks like they have just finished a shift at a food production factory. Are they having a conversation about how many cakes they baked last night?

That is a khandura / dishdash / thobe. The traditional clothing in the Middle East for Muslim men. Trying educating yourself first before disrespecting and insulting a religion. And no it is not a dress either.

I would like to remind everyone in this thread (and really the forum in general) to be circumspect of Indonesia's blasphemy laws, as well as other types of defamation laws. They are now enforcing this more often, and while the chances of someone reading this forum and getting offended enough to take action is small, it is not zero.

Beyond that, some in the FPI do not really bother with the cumbersome legal process, and they may just slap around someone for posting something that they don't like. Such as the case of a 15 year old boy who was beaten by members of FPI for insulting their leader on FB.

Sorry I didn't realise that, I had only seen the FPI wearing it so thought it was unique to them. I am sorry for offending you, did not mean to. I would never, ever have related that outfit to a religion. I am Muslim myself, and have a lot of respect for this religion and every other religion

No need to flounce. I'm not having a go, just genuinely surprised that someone could join a religion and know little about it or customs and dress attached to it.

I know a lot about it. But I do not associate the hate group with the religion, and I would not associate anything they wear with the religion either.

I never would have said anything if I had known that genuine followers of the religion wore that. In Indonesia the only people I have seen wearing that are the FPI. Which is why I ridiculed them. I would have deleted my post if I could but I can't, I do genuinely feel very bad about it. I can't even close my account

No need to close your account.

Anyway, I agree that the FPI are a hate group.

For what it is worth, non-Muslims (men & women) wear similar garments when getting baptized in the Jordan River...

I'm looking for similarity to those other clothing above...the hoods and company are different. Not sure which worries me more...:painkiller:

So are we in the Middle East ?? Just because muslims wear it doesn't make it Islamic, its been around long before the advent of Islam, just seems like a lot of the wahabi wannabes in Indonesia didn't get that email and its become part of the uniform of fanaticism, you know how Indonesians love to play dress up. To say a type of clothing looks stupid isn't insulting a religion, what a ridiculous statement to make get off your high horse for fucks sake.

Well, I'm a moslem too, Mo Salah is moslem too
In Indonesia, moderates moslem are trying really hard not to associate themselves with The Camels group. Its probably similar efforts compare to the Christians trying to disassociate themselves with KKK or Germans with the Nazis, or local girls with bules as Goldiggers. FPI on the other hand, are just a bunch of thugs gathered by some elite guys, dressed them like the KKK , for their own agenda....

They only live in certain parts of Indonesia, not all across Indonesia
They have no rooms at Dayak territory Kalimantan, Bali, Manado, or East Java with its Nahdatul Ulama (NU) based guardian. Government cant disband them because they are not legally registered, forcefully kill this gangsters would lead the Human Rights(Komnas Ham) pricks to come in and creates/politicise the issue into making it their own projects....

Tough line. But I fought these thugs regularly in online forum...
You need to avoid PKS, PBB, Pan, and Gerindra if you want the thugs off the country no more
