In a recent news story, there's a man who tried to convert someone to Christianity by quoting a Quran verse. He recorded the conversation in a video account using his iPhone, and uploaded to Facebook. The news article doesn't mention too many details on the investigation and arrest, but cites the "Electronic and Information Transactions Law No. 11/2008" as to what was violated. Specifically, "he intentionally spread information intended to incite hatred against an individual, group and society based on religion."
For this he was originally sentenced to 5 years, but under appeal was reduced to 4 years. There was also a choice between one additional month or a fine of IDR 50 million. He apparently paid the fine.
It appears there's several lessons to learn from this event. Firstly, what you say, record, and post on social media - definitely matters. Secondly, if you're super religiously inclined, better think carefully before doing any evangelizing. Finally, the old adage of not discussing religion or politics with people you don't know is probably the best policy. If you must, then DO NOT make a video and post it on Instagram, Facebook, etc.
