If seems the US Supreme Court will be taking on some disagreements concerning their residents living abroad and their tax requirements or at least the formalities of filing and the pain in the ass trying to fillow rules that are next to impossible to follow.

Filing an FBAR is quite easy, but FATCA has been a nightmare for American expats. Unfortunately, the court case seems to only be concerned with filing FBARs: https://www.scotusblog.com/case-files/cases/bittner-v-united-states/

I thought they're about the same...pretty much, compiling all the bank statements, local version of W-2 for income, dividends, CDs, stocks anything that is above the $10,000 at any given time...that's it right?

(which yeah quite a pain in the ass especially when dealing with certain banks in my earlier years they didn't really get what I needed...and sent partial docs, etc..)
