Finally done - retired in Indonesia

Hi All

after being a member of this forum since 2016, I have gathered a lot of information about the visa process. Finally, my wife (eks-wni) and I (WNA) relocated to Bandung, after we have planned our early retirement several years.

We've entered Indonesia with a 318 visa for repatriation and a 317 visa for family reunion. After entering, we have reported to the local immigration office and got the e-ITAS. It took 3 to 4 visits to immigration, including fingerprints and pictures. The rest was easy, finding a decent house, report to pak RT/RW and make a appointment with the Dukcapil for the SKTT.

I was a bit surprised how smooth the process went, no bribery at all, it was all straightforward here in Bandung.

The only downside for me was a bit this online visa application process, you need sooooo many documents and the PDF format is not accepted, only jpg and also max. 400 kb in size. As I have an IT background, I could easily convert those files to the correct format and size, but for a NON IT Guy it's maybe a bit harder.

Overall I have learned, that if you have a question about the whole process, you may check the immigration website in Jakarta directly. All the information we got from other sources were either old or not precise. Even our local Embassy in Europe was at the end not a really reliable source of information (which costed me a Visa Run to Singapore, but that's another story)

Now we're enjoying the happy life in Indonesia and we'll see what's coming next.

there were also similar experiences about some online resources, not sure was a bot or human answerding, but this I'll not describe in public, more likely in the cage, but for this cage, my post's are still to less, even after nearly 7 Years in this forum.....

I am in the same situation. I also recently got my Kitap. Do I need to send in documents again to extend my Kitap in 5 years?

From what I understand, we need to present pretty much the same documents when reporting towards the end of the 5 year period but there are no more charges and there is plenty of time to confirm exactly what is required.
