Hello everyone. As I am changing agent/sponsor for Retirement visa ( last one was unreasonably expensive, charged in US$, inefficient etc) I must go offshore and start the process again. This is fine by me.
However, I need an Exit Permit Only to cease current Kitas. Can I do this myself? Or.. does new agent or EX agent fo this. Why am I asking? Good question, ex agent is hounding me!

The Kitas and Merp should expire on the same date.
I might be wrong but I would have thought you could leave just before expiry date, let it expire, and return with a new Itas from your new agent and convert to Kitas on return.

Yes, that's true, but I want to 'dump' the old agent before then, and get a new Retirement kitas. I had the thought that I could get the EPO stamp at Immigration myself, OR the new agent do it for me, leave n start again. Bloody minded ex agent keeps emailing me ($$$$ in her eyes etc)

Dianne...that's what I said. You could arrange for the new Retirement Itas with your new agent beforehand then....
leave as normal on the last day or two of your current Merp/Kitas, let it expire while you are 'offshore' where your new agent has applied for a new Itas (say Singapore), get the new Itas and return to Indonesia and start again using your new agent to convert to Kitas/Merp.

I'm not sure if possible......just a thought. It may be that you will need to let the current Kitas expire before your new agent can even apply for another.

Ah yes, I thought so. Thank you

I am not sure, but doesn't your sponsor have to be the one to apply for EPO? Unfortunately for a retiree ITAS that means being stuck with this agent for at least that much.

I don't know if there are other complications if you just leave and let the ITAS expire then apply for a new one. I think it has been advised that in this case you surrender your current ITAS to an Indonesian embassy abroad before applying for a new ITAS.

Yes, it seems that is the way to do this. Funny thing though, ex agent's fees previously were in $US, but now, suddenly offering reduced fees in Rupiah. Any thoughts?

I made an EPO after I came back into indonesia

I'm sure Dianne would be grateful if you expand your post to include information she may find useful...i.e. did you manage to do it yourself and how was that achieved?

ok...I went back to Australia and stayed well over my kitas/merp expiry date(needed to wait for hernia operation) ,so I didn't get an EPO before leaving Indo..I came back in on a SOSBUD visa and hoped to convert to ITAS (kitas) ..they made me do an EPO after the fact..same old story when doing yourself(similar imigration form like every other they use,but different code number..plus usual documents ie. ktp wife fotocopy passport etc. fairly easy and all free..put in application come back a few days later and pick up passport..no dramas ,but they just asked why I didnt extend my kitas before...BUT I then tried to convert from SOSBUD to ITAS and they wouldn't have a bar of it...New head of kantor and new policy they said at front counter..must leave and come back on VITAS..This was at Jember...they also DID NOT like it when I suggested the immigration law to them!

Re: post #10
Thanks klaatu...I agree your case isn't normal nor complies with the law as written and J M has it right...some head of kantors are little hitler's running the show and should be removed.
Could you say whether, when you made the EPO, you had to exit RI and return, or the EPO was simply filed and you didn't leave.

Hello again folks, am doing this EPO thing and finally got it sorted with both ex agent and new agent. To make it brief..'paperwork' done, new agent doing the leg work and I go back to Aus and start again. Am so over all the emails from both of them, but it's all sorted. As is usual, nothing in Indo is 'cut n dried' nor simple! But hey!!! Yeah!! All sorted. Thanks for the informative input and suggestions, much appreciated.

Going back to the original question: I think it suffices the have the ‘former’ sponsor write a request letter, fill in a Perdim 27 (=form), and take more or less everything you used for the initial ITAS request.
