BPJS forms ask for a tax number. I have read that income not generated within Indonesia by a foreigner is not taxed. I have also read the US Social Security Benefits are not taxed in Indonesia. Of course I have also come across a lot of confusing information if it is or isn't.

If it is not and I have no taxable income here, do I still get a tax card? Do I still need to file with 0.0s? What do I do for the BPJS where it ask me for a tax number? After dealing with the CatSip here, I can only imagine things going smoothly here for other things.

Prior to retiring here I paid Indonesian tax, so I have a pajak number, so two years ago I went to the Tangerang tax office , explain that my Pension could be subject to U.K. Tax, he said don't bother filling in any forms as I wasn't liable for Indonesian Tax, last year being a bit apprehensive at not filling in forms, the tax office again told me not to bother as my situation had not changed, no income earned in indonesia, as far as I can see if you aren't registered at tax office you don't get a pajak number, I have too say I don't know how you get a pajak number if you don't pay tax, I hope you don't have problems with the tax people trying to get a pajak number, but then again I'm thinking if you register they should give yo a number, even if your not liable for tax,

OK, that is from 2015. This is Indonesia. Any changes since then?

I haven't heard of any changes but I know many foreign retirees do not apply for NPWP as it will subject them to the law. Who knows what will happen in the future. The day they apply the rules strictly is the day I'm out.

(NomorPokokWajibPajak(Indonesian: Tax Obligation Main Number; taxation identification number;Indonesia)

My wife said "Just ignore it" ... That's the Indonesian interpretation of "Just leave it blank"

Just ignore the spot you fill in the number? My wife has 0 income and has no card. Ignore her's too?

What is the "Polis Assuransi" number part?

I have been on bpjs for around 2 years , they never asked me for a tax number .

on bpjs , it seems you will need it for many admin actions in the near future such as sim etc , as foreign pensioners can now not have bpjs , hows that going to work ?

You mean foreigners on retirement visas? Spouse sponsored can have BPJS.

Yep, my wife is the same, 0 income etc. \eave hers blank too.

& seems the Polis Assurance should also be left blank & is only for use if you have other medical insurance.

Turned in the forms for BPJS for my wife and I yesterday. Added a copy our our KKs and KTPs. They had us sign them and sent us in to get a number. Did that and when our number was called we turned papers into that girl and were informed we should get an SMS in one to two weeks. Pay for the program then referencing the numbers they send. Then bring the receipt in and pick up our cards. Entire visit was 30 minutes.

Good report FP17...well done to note that something in RI bureaucracy is working, at least, reasonably so. I wish Immigration was that efficient.

Do I take it you didn't need to register for an NWPW after all?

All I can report so far is the process. A Tax number was not asked for. I don't have my card yet so until that happens we will just have to wait and see on efficiency.

I was able to figure out why Indonesians told me it was an all day process. Everyone seemed to show up early, get the forms which are pretty easy to figure out but they still go back and forth to the first desk asking questions. When filled out they try to turn them in and it is then pointed out in writing on the bottom of the form they need a copy of KK and KTP for each person. It also states they need to show their bank book with recogning number. I don't think all have to have a bank account though. So you have people running off to get copies made or one member of a group running home or something to get originals to make copies of. Yep, they seem to spend a good portion of the day there. we arrived 10:30 and were done by 11:00. Had everything ready ahead of time.

Officially there is the 183 days rule for the tax reporting of course. And for reporting you need a NPWP. But even the officials at the tax office don't think it is necessary if the WNA has no work (or Indonesian income.) There is a minimum taxable income determined by law but they couldn't possibly know your worldwide income. Or they have bigger fish to fry and don't really care, or they are not aware of their own rules and regulations. (What we obviously have seen before.)

Got the SMS that give us our account numbers to pay. Must be approved and there was no tax numbers on the forms. Will pay and take receipts to them and see what happens then. It only took a little over one business day to process.

I just processed it last month, did not put any tax details. And it is also not required on the BPJS brochure they gave me.

Evidently we have to wait and pay on the 31st according to the SMS. After that paid by the 10th of each month.

Can a wife sponsored Kitas holder get a BPJS and be covered by the local health insurance program then?

Not totally sure but there is a box for KITAS/KITAP No. Not sure just for company sponsored employees or spouse sponsored.
