BBC Indonesia reports that up to 389 tourists are unaccounted for following the eruption of Gunung Barujari in Lombok. Between Sept 25 and 27, 333 foreign and 56 local tourist are registered as entering through the Sambalun gate and have not been registered as leaving. It has been reported that “some tourists did not immediately heed warnings to leave because they wanted to take photos or videos of the eruption.”
Gunung Barujari, a small volcano popular with hikers in Lombok, erupted on Tuesday Sept 27, prompting several flights to be delayed/cancelled at neighboring Bali's Ngurah Rai airport. The volcano's eruption has repeatedly closed regional airports in previous years. The "baby" volcano sits in the crater of the larger Rinjani volcano.
