Try to take a look at Luno. I don't use them but they have checkout for IDR, so you most likely can buy with USD (or any major currency) and checkout in IDR to your Indonesian account. Alternatively use localbitcoins, it's like ebay for bitcoins. They have an escow system so things should be...

    Cryptocurrencies

Alot of people fall into the misconception of "cheap". If a coin is sold at 1000 USD with 1000 circulation, compared to another at 100USD but with 100,000 circulation. Which is cheaper? Bitcoin can be cheap if you buy the divisible part, say if you buy 0.001 it will cost you just 4USD. :)

You are right, Monero did have a surge last week, not sure the reason why. A welcoming sight for Monero holders as Monero has been lackluster of late due to all the speculation and money going into bitcoin and ether-based tokens (ala ICO). I don't hold Monero personally so it will be interesting...

Bitcoin transfer time has ranged from a few minutes to a few hours. Today if you try to transmit bitcoin if will take you a few hours unless you want to pay 10 USD per transaction. Because of the massive trading in the market, the time to transfer has slowed down like a tortoise, the time it...

    Property Prices in Indonesia

Hi, for the sake of discussion let's use the famous Thamrin Residence nearby Grand Indonesia as reference. Sales price for a 2 bd apartment is ~ 2billion IDR and the monthly rent is ~10million IDR. If we were to pay by cash our investment is recoup in 17 years. That is the worse case scenario...

    P2P investment doubts

Hi guys, I've been pledging small amounts on an Indonesian P2P lending websites. I am investing what I can afford to lose, so it's not alot ;) As with how finance people present interest rates, my head starts spinning. Suku Bunga (APR) 24,91% Persentase Pengembalian Net Pinjaman (flat) 24,16%...

localbitcoins is quite solid, so far I havent encountered any fraud there, though the fees are likely to be higher there. If you prefer using IDR to buy, then Luno Indonesia or Bicoin.co.id seems to be a popular choice in Indonesia.

HSBC HK can be quite a snob since they have so many Chinese clients lining up just to give them money, they'll just ask you to fly in for an interview without guarantee of success. Is the Mauritius bank any good?

Still me. Have not checked with HSBC, but I can confirm DBS allows account opening without KITAS, and I think it's for both IDR and USD.

    bank time deposits savings queries

Hi there lifelongexpat, My experience was the opposite. Manage to open a HSBC corporate account in HK. I had to fly in after they rejected my conf call interview, but for personal account they outright said you have to be a resident. But as usual, things change time to time and it also depends...

    bank time deposits savings queries

Thanks snpark, just off the speaking with a relations manager, looks like they want me to open an expat account. The only thing I am concern with is the 60k GBP minimum, not a fortune but still money. I don't like bank charging me if I drop off the minimum, it feels like robbery (well, in the...

    bank time deposits savings queries

Yea, an overseas bank seems to be the obvious answer. I called DB S and they said that I could do it without KITAS, their rate is ~6.25%. Well it' a little more complicated than that: DEPOSITO LUCKY 88 *Tenor 3 bulan 500 juta saving 88 juta(lock 6 bulan) rate 6.25% = 6.250.000 cashback =...

Wonderful suggestions :) Just given them a call and they'll have an answer in 72 hours. The ask some bits of pieces of info mainly what kinda business or whose your employer, but they are just interested in making you can fund the 60K GBP ;)

    Any REITS in IDX

Thanks that's an interesting observation. I was wrong because I calculated that you get to recoup in 15 years in areas like Sudirman or Senayan area. But IDR's interest rates itself is also racing very fast.
