Hello. What are some things I should know before coming to Jakarta?
It’s not really a US thing, but airline specific. Some economy tickets only get one free 23kg bag. Second bag is $200, which is a killer. JAL business class gets 3 bags at 32kg each. Well, it’s an add on line to a business group. Costs me about $25 a month. Includes a little data, can get free “slow” data after I hit my cap. No extra costs to get texts from US. Skype alternative.
I don’t need a skype number, as I have a US Tmobile phone that I can use in Indonesia. (Mostly for account verification codes, and texts) The first time I tried to activate MS Teams, it didn’t work. Tried a couple of weeks later, and no problem.- Jaime C

Extortion and corruption at Soekarno-Hatta Airport led to the dismissal of ALL immigration staff at the airport.
Thankfully, I’ve never had any problems with them asking for bribes at CGK. Only run into them asking once, more than a decade ago, at the old Medan airport.- Jaime C
