    Indonesian Youth and Smoking

People sin in all religions. Surely you know that? Smoking is not like it is a major one at that. I stated that if you question a Muslim (or any religion really) about their habits (haram or not) they answer to God, not you. Also my point in all this mess originally was that youths don't need...

    Indonesian Youth and Smoking

It could be argued that McDonalds has life threatening side effects as well. Colas, candy, so many things. We need to stop the kids for getting into those habits as well. Unhealthy diets and junk food consumption cause approximately 11 million deaths globally per year. These premature deaths...

    Indonesian Youth and Smoking

Fatwa's generally don't revolve around brown envelopes. All Imams I know say smoking is Haram. However the government and religion don't always line up. I know a Muslim that smokes and knows it's Haram, he says it's his sin and it's between him and Allah. Hard to argue that point.

    Indonesian Youth and Smoking

You know this is from an anti tobacco company using pooled data, right? That says a lot on it's own. I say (just like alcohol) kids don't need an advertisement.

    Indonesian Youth and Smoking

I have always wondered why the Native Americans that smoked pure, home grown tobacco didn't have the rate of smoking illnesses that regular cigarette smokers had. 80-90 year olds smoking like a chimney with relatively clear lungs. Maybe it's more the chemicals that the cigarette manufacturers...

    Indonesian Youth and Smoking

The US did that years ago. It didn't directly affect the number of smokers from what I remember. And they are still better than the "ask your doctor" commercials. Most of the time, the side effects are worse that what they are treating. Surely no other countries are allowing that.

    Indonesian Youth and Smoking

The ones showing a nasty tracheotomy? Not sure I buy that they are targeting youth. They said the same thing with vape flavors but it turns out that older people actually like cinabun flavored vapes more than they like nasty tobacco. The youth would still pickup smoking no matter what the...

Doing DIY at step-parent's house, is that 'working' ?

My point is that he has done it for years and it was never a problem until someone complained about something else, and then they found this out during investigation. He has been in Indonesia for 30 years. Even if you got some low level approval, that doesn't mean the bosses will agree.

Doing DIY at step-parent's house, is that 'working' ?

I posted before about someone facing deportation that started with someone making a complaint about him talking bad about the school food program on Facebook. I haven't updated the post yet because there is a lot still going on with the case. At one point, he was 2 days away from deportation...

Death Metal Nation: Exploring Indonesia’s Massive Underground Scene

I have never heard death metal on there and I listen to it a lot. Mostly hard rock on Saturdays. Think 80's metal but not just glam. A lot of songs on there there rarely get radio play anymore and didn't get much back in the day. They have a stream you can listen to on the internet.

Nothing like the call to prayer interrupting Iron Maiden. Yes, I have heard it happen on that station. 105.8

I really miss him. He was the person that got me to start traveling and I've never looked back.

Global Citizenship Indonesia (GCI) and ways to regain Indonesian citizenship.

My wife was denied a visa to the US before we were married even though she owns a business in Indonesia. She has a sister in the US and that scares the hell out of immigration. So no, having a job or even owning a business doesn't make it easy to get a US visa.

Richest 1% Has More Than The 90% At The Bottom, In USA

I get what you are saying but "punishing" the rich is what causes them to look for places to hide the money the do have. They don't want to give up an unproportial amount. At least try a flat tax before we decided it's not good. It's still better than what we have with rich people paying less...

The future and the role of Artificial intelligence.

No many people believe how they actually make their money. I learned about it from Mat Patt of all places.

Richest 1% Has More Than The 90% At The Bottom, In USA

That is what the US has now. How is that working out? I don't think it penalizes anyone. If you have dollar, you give 20 cents. If you have 10 dollars you give 2 dollars. The burden is equal based on income.

Richest 1% Has More Than The 90% At The Bottom, In USA

At the very least, there should be a flat rate tax with no deductions. Then everyone would have an equal burden based on their income. It will never happen though.

[Guide] ITAP / IMK: Moving to self-sponsor after spouse’s death (or divorce)

Unfortunately this sounds like par for the course. The left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing and no one cares enough to get them in sync. (If you can even find someone to listen that is.) One a government employee has said one thing, it will be almost impossible to convince them of...

Richest 1% Has More Than The 90% At The Bottom, In USA

And where does the government get this money to give the unemployed? The employed and most of it will come from the middle class. Again just moving the problem from one place to another.
