Well if they want to be technical I've effectively been a tourist in Semarang this past week together with the rest of the family.
Most people in the kampungs that I've run through over the years will say oh look a tourist. So a tourist information will be.
I like being out and about (preferably outdoors). So any good spots to visit in or outside of Semarang for hiking, running, biking or any thing interesting really. Or anything to do with young children.
I've just come through immigration in Jakarta airport. The immigration guy asked what I was doing here (lots of kitas etc in the passport but I was on a free visa on arrival). Said I was going out to get a new kitas. He then tried to tell me I couldn't come in on a free visa if I was waiting for...
I bought all of my stuff from Sea Pearl shop. They are well stocked. Lots of different wet suits, finso etc. They also have regulators etc too. Basically all imported items.
Yes I dived with them off the thousands islands. It's OK not the greatest diving to be had in Indonesia but OK as it's close. The best one I did was of a wreck just off p.permuka I believe it was. I stayed on.p.sepat (sp) which nothing to write home about though it was nice to be out of Jkt.
Bored of the malls and lack of greenery in Jakarta? Want to get out of Jakarta and into the countryside nearby? Want to try and get fitter or just socialise? Come and give the Hash house harriers a try.

Tempe in any form. Also nasi padang the spicier the better but I'll give any of the organs etc a miss thank you :p
Oh and a lovely Javanese Soto Ayam with pekedels

If you are looking to get your open water diving qualification before you go on holiday or just something you want to do I highly recommend Sea Pearl in Grogol. It's not far from Central Park Mall. They run the SSI (scuba schools international) open water course although the instructors are...
Once I find out what's available in Central Java I'll start another post. At the moment it's been daily /twice daily visits to our local community play park.
(This post last updated July 2016).
There are plenty of places to go with children in and around Jakarta, though getting there can depending on timing the traffic right. Most of the suggestions below are out of doors, which offers a nice change of pace for all the time spent indoors in the...
Just gone and posted the link and a little about the forum on all the Indonesian expat related groups I'm a member of on Facebook. So hopefully you'll get a bit more traffic this way.
