I spoke to Imigrasi in Jakarta Barat and they said the idea of the 5 year extension was "new", and illustrated to me that they didn't yet know how to handle it. It seems right now that they only offer the unlimited after 5 years. Their initiative seems reasonable and they just need time to make...
Yes that makes a lot of sense Jstar. I guess we wait to see if that is indeed what is the case. Seems odd that the first one hears about it is via a reviewed fee list??
In August 2016 Atlantis wrote this about the (first?) extension of his KITAP:
I have recently renewed my KITAP (sponsored by a WNI spouse). It has costed me IDR 10.000.000 for the KITAP itself and I had to add IDR 1.750.000 for a 2 years MERP and IDR 55.000 for the registration of my...
Well Jstar you raise another couple of points that I had never even considered. I hope someone can rule them in (or out). My query is really just to obtain what is the exact rule on the matter.
5 and 10 years is about my range. The thought of a visa with no time limitation seems to defy human...
I realize I may be totally wrong about this and would like to be corrected if so. I was just looking at the new immigration fee list on the Expat Indo website and noticed that the first KITAP extension after 5 years is 5juta rupiah, and the "unlimited time extension" after 10 years is 10.2juta...
To add a little more information, to draw money from ATM in Australia (in AUD) from my AUD account at Commonweath Bank Indonesia, via their debit card, costs a flat fee of about 1 dollar a withdrawal.
I find that perplexing. I know in the old days there was a period when one did need a NPWP yet banks waived it. Later they asked for it, but they never ever asked, as far as I know, depositors to take their money and leave.
I am about to extend my MERP for the final time for first round of ITAP. I need only a one year MERP and I note the price is 1 juta rupiah. As I am pressed for time, can anyone tell me if it can be processed same day at Kantor Imigrasi Jakarta? I assume it will be two days, and I also assume it...
True. But one is still required to state income earned as bank interest in one's SPT 21 (tax form) I don't think this alone would justify the issuance of an NPWP however.
When I was in Banda Aceh last week I was told that Ma'ruf Amin was barely known in the province. Not surprising. This may explain some of the result? I would be curious to know what was behind it, given that even some Acehnese I met thought with the split in PA might cause it to go the other...
I am writing asking about a small but important matter related to having a MERP whilst on KITAP. It is likely that many members here are in a similar situation to me, or will soon will be, and maybe interested in some good advice on this matter. I don't believe this forum has dealt with this...
Thank you. I have just checked our KK and one other, and on both, there is no sign of the husbands' names. My wife's shows she is married and head of the family. I think it is issued by Kantor Kelurahan. I am pretty sure I needed it for my KTP OA - as you have stated.
Can this be confirmed please? I would like to know if the addition of the WNA's name to the KK is required by law (essential), and if so, how it is done. Thanks (and thanks Jstar for information on Kitap 'extension' price in other thread)
Two articles appeared in the Indonesian media yesterday related to this topic. I cannot find where the information they contain has been reported in English.

I have walked day and night in many corners of this country over 10 years. I would estimate that 98% of the time vehicles give me enough space. Recently I might admit that cars (and bikes) are getting closer however. I'm talking 10 cm. I have been knocked down in my own country and it is not a...
I would rather not El G. I don't feel that I can do him (Jakartass) justice in this space. Many kind words were said back then. I rather think Terry wouldn't mind that he is still remembered and missed. He wrote for Jakarta Expat and Jakarta Post. Perhaps something was mentioned there. He was...
