DON'T PANIC.... well, maybe a little bit.

I agree that the chance of survival and recovery is lower here than in wealthier countries, but the chance of survival and recovery here is MUCH lower for unvaccinated people than for vaccinated ones. Indonesia may not have an ICU bed for you if you get sick, but if you are vaccinated (even with...

DON'T PANIC.... well, maybe a little bit.

Another takeaway from this article is that the vaccines are doing well at serving their secondary purpose, ie: significantly reducing the severity and lethality of Covid infections. Sinovac has not done as well but is still far better than being unvaccinated.

Thank you very much for the link; hopefully, I will not need it! The numbers in Jakarta & Banten are terrifying.

KITAS expires in Oct, and UK passport expires in January

By the way, a few years ago, my kitas agent told me that imigrasi would not even consider renewing my kitas if my passport had fewer than 18 months of validity. Things may have changed since then, but that was my experience.

    Question about visa to USA

This could also be a "trap" question... If their records give reason to believe that you lied by omitting close relatives in the US, you could either be denied a visa, or (down the road) deported from the US due to having lied on an official document. Side note: It seems odd that parents are...

    First jab done

Both of my kids got their first Sinovac shots today. My wife said it was swift and effortless at the drive-through location in Duri Kepa, Jakarta. They arrived at 11:45 and were gone by 12:10. By 12 August, all four of us will have had at least two shots.

    Extended SIX weeks more

Well, at first, I thought everybody was overreacting to what was basically seasonal flu... It seemed that way for a few months, but this second wave is different. This is purely anecdotal, but here we go... In 44 years, I have never known anybody who died of seasonal flu. Just in the past week...

    Today's menu:

Sadly, I do not. This is why I brought a box of mix back from the US.

    Today's menu:

Today's lunch was simple: skillet-fried beef & cheese frankfurters and southern cornbread from a boxed mix I brought back from the US. Must have gotten the right kind of mix because the cornbread really hit the spot without even buttering it.

    Grand Lucky opened in Sanur

Except for the TransMart at Central Park, most Carrefour locations in Jakarta / Tangerang have majorly gone downhill the past couple of years. It is sad to see but their niche is being filled by Hypermart, Hero, Food Hall, and others

    Supply and demand.

Those Costco five-packs of deodorant last me months and are far better than the rexona or other brands we get here! Also, giant containers of McCormick chilli powder, Pepperidge Farms Goldfish, and even Hormel pepperoni are big hits. This time, my kids requested Little Debbie's Fudge Rounds...

DON'T PANIC.... well, maybe a little bit.

How did they think to even study this? My cynical side wonders whether Pfizer funded the study - not because of its vaccines, but because of its pre-covid blockbuster drug (hint: a little blue pill)

Only if their suitcases get searched ;-)

    First jab done

My 15 year old daughter and 12 year old son are registered to get their first sinovac shots next week; also at a drive-through clinic, though not at their school.

I don't think that is where the shot is supposed to go! 😜
