Optician in South Jakarta (english speaking)

An current update on decent opticians would be nice. Optik Seis and Optik Melawan are nice, but frames are so expensive. They also have a limited selection of minimalist frames like semi-rimless. Are there less expensive reputable shops with a good selection? Also, someone mentioned in this...

Farmed Salmon (derail from Today's Menu thread).

Correction, chicken in the US is not allowed to have hormones, but does have antibiotics. Don't know about here.... but I do find chicken being more tasty here than in the US.

Farmed Salmon (derail from Today's Menu thread).

So we are mostly eating Chilean salmon, according to the numbers. Most definitely farmed. Wild salmon is much more expensive. Maybe in certain restaurants, and I'm sure they'll go out of the way to say it's wild on the menu, right next to the price sticker.

Farmed Salmon (derail from Today's Menu thread).

Thanks for ruining my trips to SaladStop  Can I order the Roundup topping on the side next time? But, but,... they say their lettuce is organic! :ROFLMAO:

Farmed Salmon (derail from Today's Menu thread).

I'm surprised this serious salmon farming problem is happening in Australia. Australia has generally strong regulations. Farmed salmon is known to be of inferior quality, but in Europe and US I've always found comfort buying it from healthy food stores that display some certification...

    Random questions from Jakarta newcomer

You're right, I've also used full service many times when self-service was not there, and just keeping good faith that most of them do a good job. But I prefer self-service for the reasons above.

    flying domestically

This. How do you know the above? Important: (1) maintenance (2) pilot pay and schedule. Generally cost-cutting airlines squeeze more from their pilots and pay them less, as the result they are tired, they stay at cheap hotels and don't get good sleep. So a good rule of thumb is to fly the...

    Random questions from Jakarta newcomer

I’d love to support a local worker, but not at the expense of hygiene. Example? While in Jogja, came upon a full-service + self-service laundry shop near my hotel. With the help of the attending lady, I load my clothes, trying to explain her I want a regular cycle wash, she pushes the “Favorite”...

    Random questions from Jakarta newcomer

Got it. Thanks for that. It's not an option I would typically choose, but good to know it's there. I like to think by choosing a professionally looking reflexology shop I would be getting a therapist who actually went to some formal massage training. I know it might not be always true...

Bro, I think they just misunderstood you when you told them you wanted a footjob, not a foot massage :ROFLMAO:

    Random questions from Jakarta newcomer

Alright, I got it. Walked into a reflexology shop in a mall today, and yes, back to Thailand right there, foot massage chairs and all in order. Mystery solved! The last question, I do prefer a female therapist, even for a normal massage, so would it be alright if I asked for a female in case...

    Random questions from Jakarta newcomer

To be clear, when I said "street massage" I meant indoors, Thailand style: you walk on a street, you see a massage place, you make sure it looks like a professional massage (not extra-oriented one), you walk in, you choose a foot massage, and you sit in a chair. Professional massage means women...

    Random questions from Jakarta newcomer

In a random order below... 1. No self-service coin laundry... I think I saw one shop listed in the maps, and that was it. I prefer to wash my clothes in a separate load from the others... I can specifically request my load to be washed separately at a shop, but I'm not sure if they would...

    Dermatologist (Jakarta)

Thanks for your replies all. I ended up going to Pondok Indah where they have an outpatient dermatology clinic. They speak English on the appointment line. The hospital is well organized, they shuttle you from registration to doctor visit to lab to pharmacy. The doctor seemed experienced and...

    Dermatologist (Jakarta)

Exactly, that's why I would insist on getting a scrub test. For example, a dermatitis can be treated with steroids, but applying steroids to a fungal infection will make it worse. Sorry about your skin cancer situation, that sounds scary. Would you mind sharing which proper doctor you saw...
