Got in contact with one of the individuals who created that guide. Didn't even expect to get any reply, especially on a Saturday.
This is what he shared with me:
This makes it 100% legal for me to work remotely as long as I'm married.
And my situation won't concern both tax office and...
This one is, by far, the best guide I've read until now on the matter of immigrating to Indonesia and done by expert individuals who work on this field...
Thanks for the info!
So not only this concerns the tax office and immigration, but also the manpower. And each of these can interpret the law in a different way. My gf will get in touch with that division I mentioned on my previous post and contac the manpower afterwards.
But yeah, I'll add...
If that couple had been working for an indonesian company then the law applies on them. They meet the subjective AND objective requirements.
This also applies for any indonesian citizen working both in an indonesian company and as a freelancer in his freetime for a company based outside...
Update:
My gf asked the tax office if I would have to pay the tax in case I spend more 183 days in Indonesia as a tourist (with income from outside the country). This was their reply (translated from bahasa):
"Every taxpayer who has met the subjective and objective requirements in accordance...
I just checked that thead. This subject is adding yet another level of confusion to my situation :LOL:
Let me see if I can recap this...
-Working for a company based outside Indonesia is risky but possible if I keep low profile as no one can monitor wtv I'm doing on my laptop at home;
-On a...
This guide explains the whole situation very well.

It doesn't happen just in Indonesia. Most countries follow those rules.
After searching a bit more, I'll have to keep paying for the tax in my country but also have to pay for an additional tax in Indonesia. This happens in case I don't change my country's residency permanentely. Then I guess I would have that double taxation relief as my country is on the list...
@Jamu,
That information is very important for me, thank you so much. In other words, there's a limit of days anyone can stay in Indonesia as a tourist. I didn't know that until know. This means that, after spending 6 months in Indonesia and 1 month in Japan, I'll become a taxpayer as soon as I...
@snpark facebook likes nonsense aside, thanks for the reply.
@dafluff That is also what I think, given the fact that a Spouse kitas allows you to have some type of work under certain conditions.
I'll also mention at the immigration that other reasons for me to stay in Indonesia for 6 months...
@snpark, you are the creator of a thread called "digital nomads (sick of them)" and claim how proud you are to pay local tax, have a driving licence, etc. Funny how I came across that thread a few days ago and how much your posts reminded me of it. Not surprised at all it's the same guy after...
@R Cameron, thank you for your reply.
That is correct. My purpose to stay in Indonesia is not to work. It's tourism and spend time with my gf.
I could be doing the same thing somewhere else.
That is also my conclusion. I'm planning on staying in Indonesia for 6 months, spend some time in...
Hi. This is my first post here and I want to share my story.
Back in 2017 I had my first working experience working as an intern in Thailand and met my indonesian gf while traveling to Jakarta. We have met countless times, I spent some time in Indonesia after my internship was over and she...
