How to obtain Indonesian Citizenship

Hi guys, me again.
I did the ahu form & got a voucher number & sent the payment from my bank on Friday- & this is where it gets complicated. The payment went after office hours on Friday - now still showing as unpaid on the ahu website which now on Monday morning cleared my data out - so I filled it all in & entered the voucher number again & it is still showing as unpaid.
I am hoping against hope that there has to be some human input & that it isn't a computer system that takes the weekends off & wipes out anything entered after 5pm on a Friday.
( Voucher yang BELUM DIBAYARKAN Jangka Waktu Expirednya adalah 2 Hari Voucher yang SUDAH DIBAYARKAN Jangka Waktu Expirednya adalah 60 Hari )

My question is, assuming the worst & that it has eaten my cash & then decides I have to pay again to proceed... who do I contact to sort it out?

So the kelurahan said on first visit, oh yeah, bring the documents in tomorrow.
went back with documents the next day & they said , oh no, sorry we can't do this... you need to go to Catatan Sipil. LOL
so:
win for Dafluff/ fail for the person who works in one of the ministries
& no surprise at all re having to go to catatan sipil or any of it really :D
The whole Capil thing turned into a epic adventure too- they decided they could not make a certified copy of my KTP OA because it was wrong- though they were the ones who had issued it - sigh.
So I had to make a new one, do biodata etc & go back to pick it up a couple of days later- went to collect it , they were ever-so very sorry but had somehow lost my biodata & had to do it all again ....ya really couldn't make all this up hahaha.
( ithink the guy forgot to click save on the computer file :D )
Anyway I now have a blue plastic KTP which has a slightly different number to the KTP number on all my other documents that are due to be submitted to ahu.
I am blindly going to assume that a- no one will notice or b- that they won't be so nitpicky to halt everything due to 1 digit being different.

"........I am blindly going to assume that a- no one will notice or b- that they won't be so nitpicky to halt everything due to 1 digit being different."
Oh dear! Are you taking bets on that? The expert on these sort of matters is Kafka. It must feel like you've been thrown into the spin dryer. Commiserations.

I found the phone number for their customer services :
1500 105
got sis in law to call them
had to send an email with proof of payment- did so, and my status was changed on the site within minutes...
A huge win for AHU CS - thank you.
their email:
[email protected]

So now all my documents are uploaded-

. massive point of note

To have a head start I scanned all the docs into a folder in PDF format ready to just upload - nah it couldn't be that easy for me, why did I even think it would!

They do not accept PDF format has to be jpeg (or exif or png).

So for anyone else who has to do this in the future- be sure to have the correct format for the upload.

Also all the way through this we were given a list of 16 items to check off- get to the page where we start & there is a further document # 17 that has to be downloaded from the site, printed, signed over a stamp & then scanned & uploaded.

Is it okay if that makes me laugh a little, even though I am feeling a tremendous amount of sympathy for you?
Not a problem at all it made me laugh too, mainly because after all the years I have lived here I really should know better than to opt for the logical avenue.

Well now I see my name in the list of people applying WNI. The sad thing is they reject the application saying upload document have issue. Now I wait for humas to inform which document is at fault. Which I belive the Rp2.5 juta. But I was wrong after playing with the option on the dashboard I finally find the issue fall on the document for the embassy. So tomorrow I will go down and try to settle the issue. Hopefully never meet the 22-May demo.
I can see this too, but I can't see my name on it despite uploading my documents 12 days ago, we called CS about it they said to give it a few more days.
We pointed out that my KITAP is due to expire soon.
Message repeated, wait a few more days.

I wonder what will happen if my visa does expire?
Will it be a matter of "no problem because you already made this application"
Or will it be "tough titties mate, start EVERYTHING from scratch"
I am trying no to get anxious.

".....

When my Kitap application seemed to be taking an inordinate amount of time to process, and beyond my Kitas expiry, I was told that as the application was being processed that was not a problem and that proved to be the case. Not a problem.

It seems there are no certainties about anything in these troubled times but I imagine that having been so advised you should not have a problem despite the delay.

Last week they said to call back in a few days... we did, actually we left it until today.
We just called- my documents are still in the verification process. The website says 5 days- I'm 14 days in now.
Call back on Weds/ Thurs. they said. EEP!
This is cutting it rather fine with my KITAP expiry date & now I am starting to feel that horrid stress build up.
If indeed they have further news for me on Weds/Thurs that I have to alter some documents or change anything they are leaving me with so little time. This is the part I really hate about the bureaucracy here - no clear answers when we asked what would happen if my KITAP did expire mid-process.

Now they are saying they don't have my documents.
Pissed off does not begin to cover how I feel about this.

OK, important
- apparently once digital documents have been sent in one has to send in hard copies of the documents & photograph.
They neglect to give an address to post these documents to- not original documents- just hard copies of the uploads.
FFS this is ridiculous. why not just add a lil extra onto the fee to cover their own printing expenses?

Edit- yes they want the original SKCK /SKIM/mental & physical health reports/embassy letter. It is on the list what they want & how they want it (original or copy)
The confusing thing for me is that it says online process- but it isn't really it is a bit of both.
When they talk about sending them these things they mean both upload AND post. DOH! such a silly & stupid mistake.

I swear some of those government people exist just to make people's live miserable don't they?

I guess they don't want to do the "extra" work, it's not about the cost of printing.

Policy decisions are made at the top in most organizations. As the decision are put in place and the mechanics of one kind or another are made to make the policy functionable these adjustments are approved at a middle management level. Later when problems emerge as experienced by Ms BA and others these difficulties are dealt with by lower rung people at the coal face, so to speak, and these front line people do not have the authority to arbitrarily make changes to the system and are disinclined to take the problem up the ladder and upset management. Unless the system grinds to a halt or there is a big stink, middle management continues on in blissful ignorance and not casting around for problems to solve. This is why a range of free media organizations are essential in society. If the story is picked up and a splash made then management or government will want to be seen to manage and suddenly the issue is addressed along with statements such as, "There was a misunderstanding" or "a technical glitch in the system."

Update- I have been informed by the woman who is dealing with my application at ahu, that once they have the documents and they are being processed (the 2nd message inside the ahu site notifies of this) if the ITAP is still active at this stage then no worries should it expire.

I am cutting it very fine here, luckily I am at this document verification stage, as my visa has a mere 3 days left on it- on the plus side I have a folder ready to hot-foot it to immigration with the extension documents in it- & IF I have to use that it will definitely be at the 11th hour, quite literally.

Good luck! 🤞

I also expect they will be understanding as regards dates. My (indirect) interactions with both Catatan Sipil and Kanim this year were all delayed on their end. When the final documents were submitted 5 days late, they (reportedly) grumbled and complained before ultimately accepting everything.
I have every confidence you will win through.

Guess whose KITAP expired... hush don't tell.
My documents are on DitJen's desk waiting for him to sign them, I should have my SK - decree- tomorrow.
I hope to fk I do, I have been informed by ahu that should immi come around trying to deport me to say they have things in hand & to back off.

It's a nail-biter for sure!

Anyway- I wanted to post this next bit for UK citizens so they know what the British embassy procedure is :

Please be informed that at the first stage of your application, we are able to issue you with the letter of no objection stating that we do not have any objections for you to apply for the Indonesian citizenship. You will need to come to us in person to apply for such documents by bringing your original British passport and the supporting documents (if any) e.g. letter from Immigration and etc. This letter should be submitted when you make an application for citizenship.

At the second stage, when you have already obtained the Indonesian citizenship, you will be required to get a letter from us stating that you have cancelled your passport with us and that you will renounce your British citizenship. You will still need to come to us for this document and you will be required to present the original of your passport and the certificate of citizenship from the Ministry of Law and Human Rights.
Once you have done all of this, you can make an application to renounce your British citizenship with the Home Office in the UK.

The fee for each letter is £50 by Visa or Master debit/credit card. The payment will be made on your visit.

(Don't forget the fee to actually renounce citizenship is 372:00 gbp extra to that & at this stage I believe one has to go through a different channel for that- I will update when I have confirmation.)

To add to the saga... this is now day 3 of trying to get my SK document, FML!
I have been approved I just don't have the file /document to prove it- I do have 4 pesan from the direktor all saying the same thing.
Permohonan Pewarganegaraan Diterima
Application for Citizenship Accepted

Ahu have now sent in the IT dept to fix their website/software.
They are very sorry & hope the issue is resolved quickly.

I am pretty sure Puspa is chuckling away if she reads this .
