Children choir performing in Italy.

Look, with an abundance of specific things for Indonesians to be proud of, please don't be silly and just beat your chest and start singing that Indonesia Raya song.

Instead look for actual things to be proud of about Indonesia and being Indonesian. That's real pride.

4th most populous nation in the world!

That's something to be proud of.

Vibrant, many-faceted batik traditions.
Remarkable gamelan orchestras.
Exquisite forms of dance.
Pramoedya Ananta Toer.
Transforming from a dictatorship to a democracy with amazingly little serious unrest.

BPJS , a great affordable facility for the normal people .

The largest Muslim democracy in the world, going peacefully for almost two decades. She has a lot of room for improvement, but most things are slowly getting better.

Second highest micro, small and medium sized enterprise density in the world. Roughly half of those small to medium sized enterprises are owned by women.

For me, it is the nature of the people especially shown during hard times.

When Mt Kelud erupted in our area, there was a mandatory evacuation. There was an immediate wave of Army and Red Cross. Using my wifes village as an example, when we were allowed to return after 5 days, a temporary bridge had been erected to allow access to the village. Out of about 100 homes, only about 10 had a roof remaining. Houses without a roof had been covered by a tarp. The most remote site had fresh water daily. Livestock had been taken care of.

In the following days, each home had at least 3 people from the Army/Red Cross forces helping to rebuild. Building supplies were already on site when people came back. Roads were being cleared and/or rebuilt.

Many of the big dump trucks would arrive each morning filled with volunteers from areas that were close but not badly affected. Many from Surabaya which is 4 hours away. So many volunteers that if they didn't arrive early they would be turned away.

Doctors and nurses carrying medicine in backpacks from as far away as Jakarta walking the hills and stopping at each house to provide care to the needy.

Never did I hear of anyone asking for a "little extra" for providing help.

Never did I hear of any difference in services depending on religion or belief.

Indonesian women! Surprised nobody mentioned this yet or maybe I'm just the only sleezy one around here.

More seriously, deadly Pancat Silat!

A seriously badass anti-terror unit, you know, considering.

Avoiding the rubbish, but some of the most beautiful natural scenery in the world, volcanos with some of the nicest people

Great answers, keep them coming. I'm going to show people this when I ask them why they're proud to be Indonesians and they can't give me a straight answer (other than "I bleed red and white" or other utter nonsense)

Their diversity in cultures. It was not always one nation called Indonesia.

The mental stimulation, be it from sounds, smells, sights or re-learning our western way of thinking to be more chilled.
The wonderful, wonderful people.
The reality of living as opposed to just existing.

Also, mad props for having a national language that is not terribly difficult to learn but yet have so many varied and deeply complex dialects.

Jakarta has the first place ranking for traffic in the world with Surabaya Forth! What country can boost holding two of the top five rankings in the world, huh?

:p
