sponsor needed for lifetime KITAP?

Is a sponsor still required for the lifetime KITAP (second extension)? I think I read somewhere that after the five-year KITAP a WNI sponsor is no longer required, but perhaps I have misremembered.

I had a KITAS and then a KITAP with my wife as sponsor. During that first five-year KITAP, she passed away so I had to start over with my brother-in-law as sponsor. It's been five years, so I'm now applying for the lifetime KITAP.

The marriage had to last over 10 years and even then you will still need sponsor. Since they made you start over with your BIL, I don't think you will qualify for the lifetime KITAP at this point. What was your last KITAP based on since your wife passed away?

In my view , as your present KITAP has a sponsor , its extension has to have the same sponsor (you may be allowed to change the sponsor too , but if so you will probably get a new 5 years KITAP) .

There was a revision in the Regulation (see below) , so after 2023 , if the Indonesian spouse dies , maybe there is no need for a sponsor (to me the Regulation is not clear about that) .

(1) In the event that the Indonesian sponsor dies, the foreigner's ITAS or ITAP obtained because of a mixed marriage will remain valid.
(2) Foreigner as contemplated in (1) where her Indonesian husband or his Indonesian wife dies , shall have an Indonesian Guarantor .

Thanks for this input. My brother-in-law will still be my sponsor for this extension. I think it should have lifetime validity as they are charging the fees for that (15 million for Permanent Residence Permit for an indefinite period and 8 million for Re-entry permit valid indefinitely) (www.imigrasi.go.id/biaya_imigrasi).

If you still don't know , keep in mind that for you to request yourself you need to ask your sponsor to allow you to open & manage his account at https://evisa.imigrasi.go.id .

And this is the time limit for that :

(3) An application for an extension of a ITAP ... may be submitted within a period of 3 months before up to the day the ITAP expires ...
(4) An application for an extension of an ITAP ... which has been submitted and for which immigration fees have been paid before the ITAP expires shall not be counted as an overstay if the process completion exceeds the validity of the ITAP.

Be careful or you may end up "married" to your agent. You will require them to basically do anything and there will always be a cost involved.
