No premium SPBU

Already few weeks passed and I noticed that there is a shortage of premium on SPBU (those that I have tried) here in Cikarang. In Bandung I fuel pretamax so I am not aware of any premium issues there. I got the pertalite for now.

Did anyone noticed something similar in their areas?

I am not sure if this is something temporary (it has been 2-3 weeks now)?

Had a rent car in bali and jakarta for 3 weeks until last werk and had no problem to get premium

In Bali there is occasional shortage of one or two types of gasoline. Usually either Pertamax or Pertamax Plus, but occasionally Premium also.

Now Pertamina is producing five (!) different grades, two of which were introduced recently, so I imagine they are having some logistic issues.

The grades (and RON octane numbers) are Premium (88), Pertalite (90), Pertamax (92), Pertamax Plus (95), and Pertamax Turbo (98). Octane numbers are RON, so to get comparable North American octane rating, substract about 4.

I think the plan is to eventually phase out Premium and Pertamax Plus. Pertalite is kind of stupid from an automotive stand point, being only 2 points higher than Premium. However, from a business stand point the intention was for people to upgrade to Pertalite from Premium, and eventually subsidize only Premium if needed. As of right now, technically no grade is subsidized, but the government has mentioned in the past that should oil prices climb up again, subsidies are not out of the question.

Isn't Premium supposed to be for the poor?
Not anymore since there is no more subsidi pemerintah for premium. However, I admit that when I see a Pajero (or similar) queuing for solar, when non subsidized solar is available, I cringe (there are still subsides from government for solar).

2 spbu in Bali + 4 spbu in Jakarta

Ok thanks Winsu. I am aware of the occasional non-availability of premium from time to time but this time it is the longest period I have experienced.

Update:
I just talked with few people and they said that premium fuel is going to be abolished and replaced with pertalite. This is just a rumour. Anyone can confirm?

I read that when it was first introduced.

Thanks dafluff. You confirmed to what the people around here were saying. I remember when they introduced pertalite there were some signs on the petrol station showing a difference between premium and pertalite around 600 rp? (not sure). But to be honest I didn't know for who and for what is the new fuel. More importantly is it safe to fuel my car with it? Or is it just some funky crazy experiment?

Should be marginally better than Premium for most cars. Premium I think has the lowest octane number of any commercially available gasoline in the world, and most cars are designed to take a higher octane.

I think Premium is pertalite with the octane removed. I read it is cheaper then premium because of the process involved to change it.

I read the same somewhere and was going to comment but couldn't verify....but I believe it's true...Premium is only 88 octane and most cars require higher like Pertalite which is rated as 90 octane.

Normally where I am the pumpers (illegally) charge people to fill a container (for resale in roadside stalls or whatever). They have now put signs up saying if you want a container there's no extra charge, BUT it must be Pertalite, and not Premium.

Pertalite is blend of naphta + homc (high octane mogas component - similar as pertamax + additive.

Never gotten a receipt for gas.

You have to specifically request it and they'll print one out for you.

Or when the machine is broken they'll write you one for any amount you like, which is why most companies require machine printed receipts for reimbursements.
