New regulations about immigration agents (defined as "Konsultan Keimigrasian"), will be in force after the next 90 days.

Licence for all Indonesia, minimum 3-month balance on agency's account 2.000.000.000 Rp as a prerequisite for the licence.

Licence for 1 province, minimum 3-month balance on agency's account 2.000.000.000 Rp as a prerequisite for the licence.

So.. Get ready for price hike from agents (since there might be less agents to ask around) or business as usual?

I think it’s business as usual unless you’re a small or individual agency (ie. people that don’t even have an office) or a client of a small or individual agency.

Price hikes? Hopefully not😅.

On the flipside we might end up with better agents considering that the stated aim of the regulation is to wipe out agents which have provided “unprofessional and unaccountable” services.

In a time when there is not much job for immigration agencies as there are not many foreigners around, the requirement to have 1 or 2 billion Rp parked on account for 3 months to get a licence will wipe out the majority of players. After that, once the oligopoly is set, the remaining players will get the whole business. With high demand and fewer players, the prices can go only up.

I don't agree.

Yes, during the few months where the borders were completely closed since the beginning of the pandemic, things were slower than usual. But outside of those times, ever since the VOA and free visas have been unavailable, agents have been selling a lot of sponsored visit visas.

And yes, it has become easier but for a while daily visa quotas were gone in minutes. Except for those well connected agents who were able to jump the queue before quotas were even open to the public. This phenomenon was exacerbated right after offshore applications were available again.

As for the price? I don't believe it will increase all that much. There will still be a lot of competition.

Yes my agent is busy and still charges the same very reasonable prices she has done for years
Better to have regular consistent flow of clients making small amount per client than gouge one client once
