Malaysian Police Nab 80 Indonesians At Transit House

TELUK INTAN, May 19 - Police yesterday detained 80 illegal foreigners at a transit house in Bagan Sungai Belukang, Bagan Datuk before they could flee the country to celebrate the upcoming fasting month of Ramadan with their respective families in Indonesia.

Hilir Perak district police chief ACP Wan Hassan Wan Ahmad said the foreigners, aged between 20 and 71, were picked up at 7.30pm during a three-day special integrated operations which ended today.

"All of them were believed to have spent the night at the house as a transit point before continuing their journey by boat to Dumai, Indonesia.

They were believed to have paid between RM600 and RM800 each to an Indonesian agent for the journey, he said.

"Among the drugs were heroin weighing 38.20gm, methamphetamine (21.01gm), ganja (5.43gm), ketum juice (60.45 litres), ketum leaves (19.5kg) and two pills of domicon.
