ITAS (via auto-gate) and SKTT after E31A

Hi everyone, WNA here, married to an Indonesian a few months back, and currently living overseas.

I recently got an E31A visa. I have to say, the process felt both easy and difficult at the same time. Having everything online was convenient, but the poorly designed forms (mostly for the WNI guarantor) and the payment process made me think twice. But anyway, before I get too off-topic...

First question: Does anyone know if I can activate my ITAS and the multiple re-entry permit (IMK) by using the autogate at CGK Terminal 3? This is the same way I've been entering for the last two years with a B1 e-VOA. The reasons that I ask are: 1) I prefer not dealing with an Indonesian official if I can continue to benefit from the autogate 'smoothness'; 2) I want to ensure I have the e-ITAS (as an email into my mail inbox the moment I cross the gate, I heard?) so that I can enter/exit in the future without any problem.

Second question: Assuming I'll only be in the country for a week after first (Da7 1) entering with my E31A, is it realistic for me and my WNI spouse to visit Dukcapil to apply for the SKTT on Day 2 to kick off the process, so that the spouse can pick it up later once the SKTT is ready? I don't expect to receive the SKTT during that short trip. My main goal is to just start the process and follow the "rule" of applying within 7-14 days of getting the e-ITAS (which will be the day I land). Plus, the nice people in Dukcapil does not need to know that I leave on Day 7 going to back to my home country and return later on Day 42 , etc ,etc

Thanks in advance for your help.

Yes , according to information from imigrasi.go.id (see below) .

From https://www.expatindo.org/community...r-evisa-itas-itap-visa-free.7799/#post-107004 , post no.8 : "... the autogate can also be used by foreigners who have electronic passports and Indonesian eVisas, ..." (Jun 2025) .

Yes , it is realistic . But each Dukcapil has its own procedures and it may , for example , request you get a queue number online first . Check at its website [usually https://disdukcapil.(city's/kabupaten's name).go.id] . It may be even possible for your spouse (or someone else) to do everything without you being in Indonesia , as usually the original passport is not required .

And also , usually any time limit is not enforced and I never heard of someone who had to pay fine by being late .

Dukcapil does not need to know .

Thank you so much Marcus for your prompt and detailed reply.

Just to emphasise in my first question my main concern wasn't just about entering with E31A via autogate, but specifically whether using it would successfully activate both the e-ITAS and the IMK without needing to go through a manual counter.

I actually struggle to find a relevant post or anyone in the forum who has confirmed this for the E31A visa specifically. Since there doesn't seem to be a documented case yet, I will proceed and test it out myself. I will be traveling in December and will use the autogate, and I will report back to the forum.

Sorry , I did understand from the beginning but forgot to add that :

if the autogate was programmed to accept all type of e-visas , it is probably also programmed to register your entry in the Immigration data base , so someway activating the issuance & sending of the e-ITAS to the sponsor's email (the IMK is not important as it is assumed to exist as stated in the Regulation - see it below , so it may not be sent) .

If after entry you don't receive the e-ITAS by email , you can download it from the sponsor's account at evisa.imigrasi.go.id . If it is not available there too , you can contact your designated Kantor Imigrasi by Whatsapp message or go there to ask why you did not receive the e-ITAS .
