Just a quick poll, I'm curious if my fellow itap holder get/apply ktp or even registered to KK.

Of course. Why wouldn’t you, what’s the use of that?

One of the main reasons why we got the KTP and especially KK is that they're both required to renew/extend your KITAP (or report if it's unlimited).

KTP: Need it for driver's license, banking, getting into a residence complex. I've never used KITAP to get past security before I bet you they'll get confused if you gave the Satpam that.

KK: Can't remember why I would need this either. I do have it though as a packet issued together with my KTP OA.

Tried 3 times to get the KTP and KK at the local office . !st time I was told that Orang Asing / Foreigners could not get them now . 2nd time after contacting the main office i was told there were problems with KTP Orang Asing due to illegal KTP's being issued and it could be a few months to sort it all out . 3rd time I was told they couldn't do it a the local office and I'd have to go to the main office 2 hours away . I have never been asked for them by Officials/Police etc , wasn't even asked when I got my Driver and motorbike Licence . Still haven't got them but going by posts on here I'll need them for my Kitap renewal/extension next year .

My banks always asked for KITAS or KITAP and passport . For other places like residence complex , money changers , ... , a photocopy of the passport is usually acceptable .

But digital banks may require a KTP (for example, Seabank does require a KTP for face recognition purposes) .

The staff in your CatSip office seem to be rather incompetent. And not aware of their own laws.

I really don’t get the whole discussion. It almost seems that some people think obtaining a KTP will cost them dearly (in time and money). You’re done in half a day max, they make one on the spot. It’s so convenient not to have to carry any other document around. So besides that it is legally required, there really are no disadvantages or hidden traps that I can think of. And in your home country; chances are you need to report to civil registration at the city hall the moment you move to a different city.

Same with that SKTT btw, I know quite some people in Bali for instance who have a KITAS and even a SIM but who don’t see the need to get one. It’s kind of amazing they got the SIM in the first place.

Just found out if you travel by train and have a KTP, you can board with face recognition and not have to present a ticket in the locations that have it availible. Maybe planes next?

and especially KK …..
KK: Can't remember why I would need this either.
It used to be this blue-ish piece of paper with a special rim, right? Now my wife got home with a white photocopy quality page. The people from the Catatan Sipil told her to make sure everyone knows it’s the original, it is best to sign the document with a blue pen.
🤦🏽‍♀️

After getting my 5 year KITAP the (blue) KTP took barely 2 hours. The landlady from where I live came with me, and handled everything.
Note that for religion and occupation they filled "other".

The next one will be baby pink. 😣 Otherwise they could screw up and let us vote. Seriously.

Correct and you can make however many copies you need.

Color copies even 😜

I must say that, as with kantor Imigrasi, the Catatan Sipil has improved a lot over the years. At least in the DKI and on Bali.

Go to your Catatan Sipil (with your sponsor, (s)he needs to bring a request letter without materai, KTP, KK), you need your KITAP and passport.

There’s no appointment necessary. Unlike what you might think, Friday morning is not a bad time.

They will give you a form to fill in -well more like only sign- and then it’s processed on the spot. I don’t remember biometrics and the picture was taken from my previous KTP so the first time they will do it there.

They print out the cards locally (at least where I’ve been) and give you a new KK.

what's the process of getting KTP wna?
It depends on each city or kabupaten . I think the national rule (see below) defines the minimum or maximum limits and later each city/kabupaten defines its final rule in its Peraturan Daerah/Local Regulation , for example .

I suggest you to search the internet first , as you may save time . Usually cities' Kantor Catatan Sipil have a website like https://disdukcapil."city's/kabupaten's name".go.id

My agent told me I only need to get the KTP in five years when I need to report for my next five year Kitap. I don't even know if I'll live that long? I don't even know where in Bali I will be living by then. I hate the Stupid rule that you have to have a Surat Domicili for each place you live on this small island. It's such a hassle, because a year and a half ago I lived in Karangasem district, and now I live in Badung district. It a ridiculous rule to have to report every place where you live here!
I don't plan on leaving Bali any time soon, and don't need a drivers license, so I'm just going to wait to deal with it in Five years. Hopefully by then, the law will change and it's not required anymore! 🙏🤷🏼

As so often, your agent is an incompetent moron.

i don’t want to waste my time anymore with convincing you with law texts that it is necessary to have a KTP. Let Marcus do that, he likes it.

Anyway, the USA is one of the few countries in the world where they they don’t have a central civil registry. So also no need to report when you move to a new address. But then you need to inform DMV, IRS, etc. yourself since they don’t have integrated systems.
