    Digitalizing Indonesian Government

Obviously, they are raising roadblocks to getting easy healthcare. I’m sure they must save billions of dollars a year, by people who just pay for it out of pocket.

Hello, how avaiable are Paxil, Loxapine, Lunesta, Laamictal, Lisinopril, and Lithium?

Yes, I regularly get Lisinopril here, no problem. Of the 10 or so prescriptions I get in the US, only things like a weekly injectable for diabetes control, Trulicity, are really difficult. I see them listed on Tokopedia, but am unsure of authenticity.

    nonprescription medication shipping from abroad

Indonesia is very picky on stuff being shipped here. Bringing your own items, or having close friends bringing them in is ideal. There are some shipment forwarding companies that consolidate smaller shipments for $20-25 per kilo, that possibly might work. Check US Indonesian groups. Given the...

    VPN

As I mentioned, it’s VPN unlimited. I believe I purchased it in late 2017, on a black Friday deal. It’s worked pretty well overall. I primarily use it for streaming, but have used it at times for various US financial sites, and some investment sites. I think it included 5-6 logins. The...

Where to find Western groceries in Jakarta?

I don’t find a huge difference in taste (other than some unique flavors available) from US produced and Malaysian Pringles. So paying an extra 100k for a can does nothing other than making me poorer. I generally don’t even eat Pringles here, unless there’s nothing better. I’m perfectly happy...

Where to find Western groceries in Jakarta?

Went to Grand Indonesia mall in Jakarta for the first time in 7-8 years. Was perusing the Food Hall supermarket there, and they had many more imported items than their location in Bintaro. They had USA imported Pringles, 158 gram (5.5 ounces) cans, in some limited edition flavors. Price was...

    VAT on private education

Well, I wouldn’t put us in the rich category, certainly. I think our tuition for the 2024/2025 school year was about 100jt, including development fees. Going into Jr High, and high school, the prices will go up, likely eclipsing the 120jt level.

Haven’t heard about anything like that. The prices are high enough already.

Where to find Western groceries in Jakarta?

I think local Pringles are produced in Malaysia. I eat them pretty regularly. Normal pricing is 15-22k a can, for around a 100 gram can. They have BOGO offers or an extra 30-40 gram packages fairly regularly. I’ve tried Mr Potato a few times, and they didn’t measure up. My US favorites are...

Hello. What are some things I should know before coming to Jakarta?

One problem with new mosques, is I think they need permission of neighbors within a certain distance. It seems they just wait until you’re out of town to start if you don’t grant permission. I don’t mind the mosques, but obviously wish the volume was a bit lower.

Hello. What are some things I should know before coming to Jakarta?

And your location in the neighborhood is very important. We moved 6 houses closer to the residential intersection when we bought a house. So, we are just about on the corner. The noise difference is major. Went from like 75db to 100db. One bule neighbor one street closer moved out a few months...

Hello. What are some things I should know before coming to Jakarta?

Most Ibuprofen here is served in small packs. 10 pills, often, for 15-20k. I can buy a two bottle bundle of 1000 pills, for $9-10 at Costco. If you have constant body pain, and take multiple doses a day, it’s a big price difference.

Is it safe to go to Indonesia w/ nutritional supplements in your luggage?

And perhaps just create a single post listing items you’d like to bring in. Creating a lot of similar threads might cause some to ignore your posts.

Where to find Western groceries in Jakarta?

Imported stuff is expensive. The cost depends on the rarity. My wife picked up a couple of 12 ounce cans of US Dr Pepper this week. The cost was 27k per can. A jar of Tostitos salsa is about double here.

Hello. What are some things I should know before coming to Jakarta?

No. I bring multiple bottles of 500 quantity of the Kirkland brand. Yes, many food delivery services are cheap here. If you eat local type foods, $2-5 is pretty average. If you want western food, beef, etc, it might be in the $7-15 a person.
