    POS Indonesia

Much better to send with a freight forwarding service that often combines smaller packages. Costs about $26 per KG.

And, if you don’t have plans to travel outside of Indonesia in the near future, it’s optional, I believe.

Getting LOANS or KPR for housing as an expat

Just a note, debt collectors in Indonesia are very serious. Not like some parts of more affluent countries that will just call, or send you letters. I know one Indonesian who has to leave their house before sunrise, to avoid the debt collectors who camp outside their house.

    Indonesian immigration view on CRBA

If Indonesian and another country, dual nationals allowed until 18. Must choose by age of 21.

The US presidential debate - Trump Biden!

I’d vote for Commander before Trump. I think Buttigieg is good, but the Anti-gay sentiment is pretty high. I’d support a female candidate, certainly. Harris is fine, but may not have the support. AOC would be a wild pick, and barely old enough to run as president. Not looking for any MAGA...

    Car insurance?

Insurance is usually driven by the cash value of your vehicle. Some companies seem reluctant to issue a full coverage policy one the vehicles are 10+ years old. Certainly it won’t hurt to get other price quotes. The claim speed seems a bit slow.

    POS Indonesia

There are services for delivering stuff to/from US to Indonesia. I recall costs were $13 USD. Not sure if that was per kilo, or pound. My wife did it once to the US. I can ask for more details, if anyone is interested.

Airports in the US. Chicago, and Newark. I had a credit card that I had for a few months, but have never used. Bought some food at the airport once, and the same day, had a few fraudulent attempts around the country. Never used it anywhere else.

    POS Indonesia

Prices sure have gone up. I sent a POS envelope to the US about 10 years ago. Was handled by DHL once it left the hand of POS. Think it was 160k, then. Just a few pages in a flat envelope. Got to the US recipient in 4-5 days.

    Cold cuts in Malang

We normally get just Aroma at our supermarket in Bandung. Pretty limited selection. Not bad, but nothing special, either.

Hopefully, your cards are valid for 4 years or more. Luckily, we just send all the US issued credit cards to our US address. So for online usage, I’ve got a picture of the card. And my wife, or any relative visiting us in Indonesia just brings the cards with them. I get about 1 card per year...

    Cold cuts in Malang

Cold cuts? Are you speaking of a certain type of meat? I’ve always thought of sliced ham, sliced salami, bologna, etc. Pork versions mostly. I just finished off a nice 3 pound package, of thick cut, Costco bacon brought from the US just over 2 weeks ago. Soooooo good. :)

New customs regulation, only 5kg of processed food allowed per person?

I had gotten a couple of chalk X’s 10+ years ago. Nothing ever became of them. I know forum members would just erase the X’s before they went through customs, but I’d never do that.

New customs regulation, only 5kg of processed food allowed per person?

My wife flew in, and was a bit paranoid with the new ”regulations” at customs. She brought about 100kg of stuff in her checked and carryon luggage. She was even worried about bringing a 3 year old Michael Kors handbag. At CGK, she did see some people getting their bags searched. Most seemed to...

    Starlink Internet

My cousin has had one for 18 months out in the boonies of AZ. They really like the transfer speeds. Costs $110 a month, there.

    Getting Netflix here

We’ve had our Indonesian Netflix account for about 5 years. No problem using our US credit card to pay for it. Try a different card?

    Buying Aircon units, advice needed

Is this in Jakarta? We have a single 1/2pk unit in our bedroom, for when it gets hot, but we’re in Bandung. I keep the temp at 25-26 most of the time, along with a pedestal fan. I’ve become a bit spoiled, honestly. It runs for 14 hours a day, lately. We looked at the more expensive brands, but...

    Taking my cat to UK

Most people use a company to help with the pet paperwork. I’ve heard the UK has a long wait for dogs to be in quarantine, but don’t know anything about cats. I‘ve heard people mention Groovy and Jakpets.
