    The drab hand of religions.

Thanks. I've long had an interest in comparative religion but don't recall coming across a reference to Cathars. I had to look that up. The Inquisition decided burning them at the stake was sure way of teaching them a lesson. That you know of Cathars might suggest a Catholic upbringing. The...

    The drab hand of religions.

Wearing a hijab now in western countries increasingly carries with it hostile responses. It is so easy in life to develop hatred for those who are different and now with extremist Islamists determined to kill infidels, every time there is a violent incident life for Muslims in western countries...

    The drab hand of religions.

At the heart of many religious institutions is a process to control and keep adherents. Fear with the threat of hellfire and eternal damnation is a powerful tool to that end. Anything that distracts people from the sole purpose of life to ensure salvation is sinful. Anything that provides...

    The drab hand of religions.

It can be noted that there are few women seen in street demonstrations. Is it because their brains are smaller and they don't think? What women do and don't do is greatly influenced by cultural pressures in the societies in which they live. As with the habits of Catholic nuns these are women who...

    How do you guys invest?

It seems any entity involving large amounts of money is like a dead body attracting blow flies. the case involving Najib in Malaysia is one example and the ease with which AI and hacking are able to misuse the internet seems to me to make any investment using the internet precarious. Invest by...

That's an awful lot of posing. I wonder if she poses in her sleep?

    The drab hand of religions.

Personally I see nothing wrong with appreciating beauty in a woman whether it is the hair or just simple elegance. I am not upset that I can't see the body shape of the woman at the beach dressed in a burka. It just looks hot and not comfortable and I just feel sorry for them.

Rarely see the sarong kebaya these days and it is such an elegant form of dress. At the beach it is hard to see women wearing black burkas, the men in shorts and perhaps shirtless without seeing this as a form of oppression.

    The drab hand of religions.

It seems religious zealotry functions on the assumption that anything that makes a woman look attractive becomes a threat to men who evidently are so easily whipped into a sexual frenzy that men have to be protected. In Somalia in the 80s one of the really delightful things about travelling in...

Indonesia set to introduce strict new law banning sex outside of marriage

When it comes to the need for evidence I am reminded that in Australia until the Whitlam government reforms of 1972 there were many private detectives made a quid sneaking around with cameras and popping up to catch adulterers in action. Divorce usually followed but no actual stonings.

Grandfather Clause for existing Investor KITAP holders

Like constitutions in many countries they read beautifully but seem to get forgotten when it comes to dealing with lesser mortals than VIPs. Many years ago the Northern Territory government in Australia offered "lifelong" prospecting licences at a special fee. I bought one. Some years later the...

Indonesia set to introduce strict new law banning sex outside of marriage

Perhaps you could run a test case by going to Aceh, committing adultery and when they order 10 lashes of the cane in public you can demand of the court, "What about stoning to death"?

Indonesia set to introduce strict new law banning sex outside of marriage

Unfortunately this leaves young Indonesians living in Kos in a very vulnerable situation. Every now and then we have been seeing local TV with raids and young couples being arrested for immoral behaviour.

⚠️ Urgent Immigration Advice Needed: Expired MERP and Return to Indonesia with KITAP

Yes, but unless you can obtain an IMK before you return the Kitap will be cancelled. At least that is my understanding but there have been so many changes in recent years. Good luck.

⚠️ Urgent Immigration Advice Needed: Expired MERP and Return to Indonesia with KITAP

Could you travel to Singapore or Malaysia on a tourist visa to pad out the time?

    Indonesia’s MSMEs versus Chinese goods

I daresay much of these replacement imports will not be made by lots of small Indonesian entrepreneurs but rather a discrete number of cashed up business people with "connections" to enable them to seize opportunities of enrichment. The loss of local employment will not have them losing much sleep.

    The stick or deportation?

S Struth! If the figures above are correct, the single parent allowance is $2500 a month more than what I get for my Aus aged pension. I think I need to head off to the UK and claim that Islamic extremists are threatening my life if I remain in Indonesia or return to Australia.

Stone the crows. How will this go down in Bali?

Bonnie Blue was denied entry on the grounds that she was planning to engage in monetized activity by producing material for web sites. Planning to earn income (even indirectly) while on a tourist visa is a breach of standard visa conditions. Mind you there are plenty of bloggers creating...
