Aikido is a form of martial art that is created by Morihei Ueshiba in the early 20th century. He used elements from previous martial arts he had studied to create it, for example Daito Ryu Aiki Jiujutsu and Katori Shinto Ryu Kenjutsu. Aikido knows no competition, because it emphasizes on building our health, physically and spiritually, to have the ability to subdue violent attack, and also to improve our humanity, yet still through realistic training simulating real life situation instead of any competition match. As such, it is quite interesting to study and practice Aikido, since instead of merely trading punches and kicks, there we are taught on how to harmonize (yes, believe it or not) with our assailants, and yet still emerge victorious. Now, that’s a paradox, isn’t it? Why don’t you just come and try it for yourself:giggle:?

Yoshinkan is the name of one among the most prominent Aikido styles in the world. It was founded by Gozo Shioda (see picture), one of the most excellent among Morihei Ueshiba earliest students. In Jakarta, Yoshinkan does have a branch that is directly affiliated with their headquarter in Tokyo. Its dojo (practice hall) so far takes place on the 4th floor of Gedung Rektorium, PTIK / Perguruan Tinggi Ilmu Kepolisian on Tirtayasa street, South Jakarta. They hold their practice every Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00 am, and every Sunday from 15:00 to 16:00 pm. If you’re interested, you can check out their official website here: “Contact Jakarta Yoshinkan" Its current teacher is Chily Lianawati. You can find her e-mail and phone number in that website address.

Ps / nb: Their sites is in bahasa Indonesia, but the teacher speaks English and Japanese quite fluently.
