His date of birth, Dec 31st, 1870, has been verified by the local authorities.
Yep. They have found two witnesses who testified that they were present at birth. Written testimonies are being sent to the Guiness book. Aman Bro.

How old are the two witness then if they were at his birth,

Two witnesses who were alive at his birth and still alive today..... Makes them older than he is.... Or is age affecting my logic?

Nothing to do with logic. Sarcasm and derision only.

I'm waiting for claims about his diet and habits. Did he smoke 3 packs a day all his life? Did he develop a taste for mie instan?

Edit: Keep in mind that the oldest lived person ever claimed she smoked up until she was too blind to light her cigarettes and was too proud to ask for help. She also claimed to have eaten an ice cream sundae every day.

How old are the two witness then if they were at his birth,

"And some fell on stony ground, where it had not much earth; and immediately it sprang up, because it had no depth of earth: But when the sun was up, it was scorched; and because it had no root, it withered away." Mark 4, 5-6 (Because today is Sunday and my attempts at humor often fall on stony ground.)

Wasn't Japan the healthiest country? Over here I gain 2 kilo per month because of all that fried stuff. My m-i-l already orders her ice cream dessert when I'm still working on my appetizer so that promises....

Imagine that 145 years old, how horrible watching all your friends and family expire around you - especially outliving your own children which must be totally heartbreaking. This sadness is compounded by the fact that he actually wants to die, what a horrible existence.

Some time back an area of Soviet Russia claimed to have the oldest men in the world, 120 year olds were quite common, no old ladies though, it was later found to avoid war service they had fidled their birth certs, these old codgers weren't as old as they made out

Not that it's conclusive proof against his claim, but my wife and half her immediate family members have the same birth date as this guy (month, not year, obviously). The other half have the 1st of July.

They just didn't bother remembering "irrelevant" details in the villages, so whenever it was that they first signed up for an official document of some sort, they were just assigned one of those 2 dates.

The head of the village will basically confirm and sign anything as long as it's reasonable. Just so people can go ahead with their lives. Everything would grind to a halt if they all had to do things by the book.

I was 40 when I married my wife and my father in law was 42 but over the years the age gap between us has steadily increased to the extent that I am now 54 and my father in law is 60.

Again, not conclusive proof against this guys claim but Indonesians seem to just think of a number if they don't really know.

Time seems to be something that they can't grasp the subject of.

As regards to the head of the village signing anything so people can continue with their lives, the kepala desa wrote a letter saying that my wife's 2nd husband had died about 4 months after my step daughter was born so that my wife would have no impediment to marrying me.

In fact they'd just split up and the fact that he'd never sent money or letters was enough for the kepala desa to accept that they had divorced but thought that death would make sure that there were no more questions. I have never met him but he still lives in Central Sulawesi somewhere.

Off topic a bit but related to time, when I was younger I cycled from England down to Cape Town, also using boats and planes on a couple of occasions, e.g. Cairo to Nairobi because Sudan, as it was then, especially southern Sudan was a no-go area.

Quite often if I asked someone has far it was to the next village or town they would reply that it was 3 cigarettes or 2 cigarettes so they measured how long it would take to get there by how many cigarettes they would smoke on their journey.

The only problem with this was I didn't know if they smoked 5 a day or were a chain smoker so it didn't really help very much

I'm still getting used to the recent news re the Greenland Shark.

Scientists are fairly confident that they can live for about 400 of our earth years.

Incredible !

Ha ha! That's a great example. I hope he never comes knocking at your door, though.

He sent text messages to my wife a couple of times asking for a photo of my step daughter but my wife refused because he never helped at all to bring her up. I think she might have been a bit wary that my step daughter would be kidnapped if her ex-husband had a photo.

I have always offered my step daughter money if she ever wanted to find out who her real dad is. She has always refused as but I always thought it was only fair that if she wanted to find out then I should help her.

Let's see; if he has great great grandchildren which are babies, you could assume 145-25-25-25-25 as the average age when he 'started' and was 25 himself. That's a discrepancy of only 20 years on average, it would put him between 100 and 145 years old (for 20-30 years old for every generation to start a family).
