Hi. Really hope someone can help! My husband and I are both UK nationals. He works here as a teacher and I'm on a spouse kitas. We have 3 kids, I think they're on an Education Visa. My question is, if I agree to a divorce will I lose my Visa and if so, are there any other options for me to stay in Indonesia to be with my children. Any advice will me most appreciated.

I am not 100% sure but if you have spouse visa (your spouse is a sponsor) and then get divorced = loosing sponsor = voiding visa.
Or maybe simply get a new sponsor for new kitas? Not sure if you have to re-entry Indonesia.

Bare with us. Someone more knowledgeable will perhaps answer your enquiry.

Hi Cara Shankly and welcome to the forum.
Sorry to hear about your problem re: divorce. It's always a shame when there are young kids involved who are the most innocent victims of a relationship gone sour.
Is it therefore possible to NOT divorce 'legally' but to 'separate' so the children may be protected. I know some who have done similar and, so long as there wasn't a great animosity between spouses, it worked fine until something better could be arranged.
There are other ways for you to get a visa on your own volition and leave the children on the father's dependent visa but it will take some time....best to discuss with your husband the best for them and yourselves.

As David said, even if the sh!t hits the fan, there are ways that you can spend practically all your time rather seamless in Indonesia.

There are many people spending their winters here by getting a visit visa and extending those. Look on the Expat Indo website how that would work, it was called SosBud or Sosial Budaya before.

All the best.

Obviously the best thing to do is seek proper legal advice. (and sorry to hear about your situation, I'm sure it is not easy)
