Trend JKT; outside entertaining space

A two hour drive to this particular beach is not worth it. Yes, it was crowded. But I don't recommend it, because there is -besides taken a photo of the rocky beach- nothing than warungs, toko-toko and warteks. Also annoying 'professional' photographers who want to take your pictures. One can rent 'Bali' clothes and lots of local tourists sewa these cloths to take a picture to pretend they are in Bali 🤷

No cafe or restaurant like in Bali. Far from that.
That sounds kind of letdown for you. Anytime you find a place that looks good on paper, but is overcrowded and provides you with little more than the basics. If you need more than a photo op and some busy warungs though, this definitely isn’t worth a long drive.

Do any hotels or other restaurants have such a policy?
Yes, there are hotels in Europe where kids are not allowed. In Mallorca we stayed one time in such a hotel.

in some other countries these hotels pop up now too, e.g. Singapore. Hope in Indonesia they will start to implement this policy too. I am the one making management aware that it's getting out of control. Employees in our hotels right-away agree, because it is hard on them too, to work in that kind of invironment. They now give us a table in a more private area every morning. Also got a room on the top floor away from families with kids.

And restaurants in Holland starting with this kind of policy.

Yes, 4 hours in total 'pulang-pergi'. Good to know, though. Yogya and its 👍sight seeing places are mostly visited by locals .. from nearby 'kota-kota yang lain'.

I should have specified, do hotels anywhere have that policy in their restaurants? Hotels that allow ankle biters as guests, that is.

I dont know, and not sure if there's sufficient market for the adult only hotel in Yogya, but you'll find few in Bali. Simply, there's a market for this type of accommodation.
Not very difficult to google to get all this information to avoid disappointment, unless the intent is to making fun of something that is deemed below "standard".
In tripadvisor many people get good advise for adult only or more privacy hotel accommodation as well as hotel with large pool where they can have fun with their family member. There's also choices of private villa for more privacy if you wish.
Yogya is one of lowest minimum income in Indonesia; and the city with most student population - so we can expect low cost of living IF you live that way. This could be the reason many local tourist visit Yogya and many international tourist visiting and expat resident of Yogyakarta is not for western life style.
No grand-lucky or ranch market in Yogyakarta, never see Tomahawk in any super market in Yogya. Finding a "proper" bread to western standard is impossible or almost impossible as the market love kue / roti manis - same situation in most of part of Indonesia.
I recall a bule in Yogyakarta help her family by selling mie ayam rather than open a boulangerie or steak house.
This situation will not change in one night. If somebody can't accept or can't compromise; I'm worry no place will fit him/her - better stay-out rather than live in misery, whining and cursing.

A lot of families with kids in our hotel Marriot in Yogya.
Made managers aware that the atmosphere in the restaurant at breakfast hours looks like a 'kinder garden'. And ask them why there is no policy to separate the families with kids from the rest. Like there is already a policy to seperate the smokers from the non-smokers.
Marriot (Yogyakarta) and other hotels and resorts often have a Kids Club or other child friendly activity centres where parents can have their kids looked after. Swimming pools also tend to attract the little buggers.
Try the type of hotels that attend to business people and the ones that do not specifically cater to young families. And if you don't intent to make use of a swimming pool, skip these hotels as well.

The general manager Ibu Mey came to see me at the breakfast table. It's a good idea to seperate the families from the rest. Marriot has 3 breakfast areas. They will start with instructing the waiters to guide those familes to one area only. She is still afraid of putting up a sign that a specific area is for adults only. As Indonesians are insulted fast. And hateful putting stuff on social media getting viral. To seperate families on different floors is a bit difficult, as that info is not always available, when guests book a room. They book a room for 2 adults and arrive with 4 kids 🤣

But she will try to adjust the process of allocating the rooms.

I don't mind kids playing around, but some situations are over the top. The problem is also that employees are 'takut' to address the situation. In Europe the employees will.

All this because nowadays many people have no clue about parenting and properly educating their kids. And it's not a matter of money !

It's not whining and cursing.
Someone has to start this discussion, like decades ago someone started addressing smoking inside. Those persons also have been attacked by smokers.

I was asking about hotels elsewhere with existing policies segregating their restaurants into kids and kids free zones. I don’t recall ever noticing such a setup.

Some of them deserved to be attacked for the methods they used. Social justice warriors and the like, who want us all to live according to how they see utopia, can be very irritating.

Seperation is not a bad thing.

  • ...
To mention a few

Elon Musk and the like 🤣
If Musk's is such a great man, then why doesn't he take his gazillions of dollars, and actually find a cure for Cancer, stop all petroleum usage, create affordable health care, transportation, and education for all.
This planet needs much more help, than wasting $ billions on Mars exploration.
I doubt that he will, because his ego and greed, will get in the way!
