Please, have anyone references of a good orthopedist (knee specialist), in Bali?

Considering that maybe I should undergo a procedure to remove fluid from the space around a joint using a needle and syringe, I would like have first hand experiences, a about everything: WHERE DO NOT GO!

Thank so much you for your kind comments!

You might also post your enquiry on Balipod.com where the users are mostly living in Bali.

Here is a link which you may find useful.

But first I suggest finish reading the rest of this response to your question.

In June last year when after over doing some "dance moves I woke up next morning with an extremely painful knee for which I had to use painkiller just to get my knee into our car.

To summarize, you will see I used and researched a variety of options that considered cortizone injections, arthroscopy, knee replacement surgery and stem cell therapy and finally physio therapy using on line procedures.

If you go straight to knee specialist they will probably begin with anti inflammatories, maybe move on to cortizone injections and finally surgery. My research found really alarming studies in this area and a medical survey done in the US that suggested arthroscopies proved no more beneficial than placebos. Most concerning was a post operative, patient blog where some received benefit, many received little benefit and a worryingly large number who were left in extreme and long lasting pain. Not to mention pain in the hip pocket from medical costs.

Obviously it is for you to make your own decisions. And it may be that you have an irredeemable, serious knee problem for which is there is nothing other than surgery. However, before resorting to that, based on my own experience, I would urge you to explore Youtube physio fluid on knee.

There are many posts that you can view without cost and then consider trying them for yourself. In my own case I spent some months beginning with anti inflammatories and pain killers then several different kinds of supplements that were supposed to but didn't bring about the benefits advertised.
The very clever advertising recommends using for perhaps two months for a benefit. There was no benefit. One product purports to be developed by a Chinese professor with glowing testimonials from "medical specialists". However I could never find any creditable references to any of these so called experts nor of the "professor." In short I came to the conclusion this was just another money making scam.

It was not until October last year that I began with some of the on line physio exercises with encouraging improvement in a short time. I can now go for longs walks, climb, stairs, drive my manually operated car (left knee used for clutch) and function normally.

I wish you well in your quest to deal with your problem but recommend that you peruse the areas I have suggested and don't rush off for surgical or other physically intrusive procedures. Being in the tropics infections are perhaps rather more likely. Good luck.

The most senior orthopedic surgeon in Bali is dr. Ketut Siki Kawiyana. He practices in the Kimia Farma pharmacy on Jl Diponegoro (across from Level 21).
