We are currently in the planning stages of renovating a property. The house has a well with submerged pump that feeds a tank on the roof. Pump, tanks, piping etc are all in good condition, however there is no water filtration on the house at all.

Anyone have advice for testing the water? where to get it tested in Surabaya? what to look for?
Also advice on whole house water treatment that is simple to maintain, brands that are reliable etc..

Dinas Kesahatan (DinKes) Surabaya should be able to help you out with a lab technician who drops by to take some water samples from your home.

You can also have a look at one of those depot air minum (water gallon refilling stations). They often have a proof of quality of their drinking water (hasil lab) on the wall. There should be a name and contact number of the lab that did the testing. Contact them for more info.

There are two test that you can run: Biologi and the Kimia one. The Biology test basicly tests for the presence of (dangerous) bacteria. The kimia one tests for the presence of several metals and minerals in your water.

I had it done about three years ago, each test was around Rp150rb.

After you get the results of the tests you can decide if and what action is needed to clean and filter your well water.

In our current house we have a well with rather clean and clear water. We haven't had it tested but to be on the safe side we installed a UV lamp at the water tank to clear the water from any bacteria.
