Raid on Food Stall Prompts Fears of Fundamentalism

I also recently read an article about Wahabbism and wondered if it's having any impact here. I've asked a couple fairly devout Muslim friends and they hadn't heard of Wahabbism, which isn't to say it is not influencing, but at least not openly...? :noidea:

To put this in context, I traveled extensively in Aceh, considered by most to be Indonesia's most conservative province, and went to masajid everywhere there. I only know of one so-called "wahabbi" or Salafi masjid in Banda Aceh. Most are like all masajid in Indonesia, either run exclusively by locals or in tandem with a major organization like Muhammadiyah or NU. I encountered Salafis far more frequently in America.

The difference between Saudi and Indonesia is like chalk and cheese, even Aceh comes nowhere near Wahhabism, they have a long way to go to get any resemblance as hard as they try
