Question about tax

I have just filled my yearly tax report and, to my surprise, I was listed and not married, and therefore also not having kids. Which in turn affect my yearly tax free earning.

When I asked in HRD they said that's how it is for bule, with no explanation.

Can anyone confirm or deny this? And maybe point me in the direction of a law that states this

Thanks

Lol, of course you can claim dependents, there is absolutely nothing in the law about being bule or not bule regarding this.

The only wrinkle is if you have a prenup agreement, you may not be able to claim your wife. But again, this has nothing to do with bule or not bule, as many Indonesians also have prenups.

That's wonderful to hear, I can add another thing to my list of problems to cause in HRD first thing in the morning.

We don't have a prenup so no issue there.

Thank you

Was the salary negotiated net and grossed up for tax reporting reasons? Or was the gross salary taxed (as most often the case)?

Gross taxed.
Does it make a difference?
Of course, it means for example you get in your pocket 100jt a month or 100jt less the tax of 10% or 20% or whatever it is so that means 90jt or 80jt etc

Your contract should stipulate net or gross salary

Like prem footballers on $500,000 a week, they don't take home that much, poor buggers
Only the smart ones like Ronaldo etc who say they want $500k NET (after tax) so actually their gross salary is like $800k a week

Just curious, what difference to the tax bracket does it make being married or not? Do you pay less or more?

What allowances?
I was under the impression it was just x % a year regardless of marital status / kids etc?
