I am currently suffering from double pneumonia. I started to be ill about 6 weeks ago with some horrid virus.
This settled on my lungs with a secondary infection (bacterial). Treatment was a week long course of antibiotics. I felt better for about 2 days.
Anyway- my symptoms returned : tiredness- so hard to explain this exhaustion but to the point of spending several days in bed & not even having energy to go have a shower for 4 days. The husband was having to assist me to walk to the bathroom as the fevers and whatever took a hold of my joints & flared up some sort of rheumatic fever.
The pain was horrible and I was unable to get out to see a doctor. Mild fevers mainly- but relentless over days & days. Some spike fevers where hubby sat beside me all night giving cold compress treatment/relief. The coughing, severe to the point that I thought I would blow and aneurism (if I had one!). Sinuses blocked or streaming, spotting blood. then my voice went, not from a sore throat- but purely because there was not enough air to push the noise out. See- a plus side for the hubby in all of this ;)
Anyway- just in case you have missed the news: https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2023/11/23/what-is-the-mysterious-pneumonia-outbreak-in-china.

Not saying this is what I personally have, but it is out there & many people have kids here, and many of you are teachers and are likely exposed very much to the petri-dish of in school- bacteria and cooties. be careful. Be aware. & know that the strain of pneumonia I have is antibiotic resistant & that is why I have been circling the drain for a bit. However, I (hopefully) am on the road to recovery now.

Hope you get relief soon and get back to your old self again.

Yes, I seen the news that the pneumonia related virus found in China has entered Indonesia. While affecting children mostly, it also can affect adults. Will China release what they know this time? Who knows. Hopefully this doesn't lead to another pandemic. Hard to say what was learned from the last one.

We haven't stopped wearing mask when we leave the house. Get lots of stares but don't care. We'll see if more start wearing them again or go like the last time with the, "won't happen to me" attitudes.

Get well soo Bad. May the powers that be, be your guide.

I hope you get well soon. It has to be miserable. Hopefully this won't be the new normal with thousands of these cases.

Thank you, yes, I hope that it isn't going to be a 'thing' but after recent history it can only make one wary.
I certainly would not wish this on anyone.

There are tons of info since a few week ago regarding the recent surge of respiratory illness outbreak, pneumonia-like symptoms in China,

Yep, lots of reports from nations other than China. China does report no stress to hospitals while denying reports of hospitals being overrun by the hospitals local media. Let's face it. China doesn't have a good record of being honest and open about medical situations. Hopefully it will not take pressure from other nations and months go by until China says, "oh, by the way, we have a problem." Nations need to take a strong stand and tell china they will confine them within their boarders unless diagnostics are released and a honest reporting system is in place.

Get well soon @Bad_azz ! Daycares here in the US are also giant germ incubators this time of the year, I feel like my wife and I have been coughing for weeks now

(Here the culprit seems mostly RSV but with covid and flu mixed in too)

@Bad_azz
Sorry to hear. Hope the fresh air of Bandung (at least much better than jakarta) with good laugh and good sleep, you'll find fast healing with each and every day

Hope you feel better soon!

I had strep throat a couple of weeks ago, and had a 10 day course of antibiotics. I have enough troubles breathing when I’m not sick!

Get well soon BA! My nephew was hospitalized for four days, also for pneumonia. He was in the same hospital with other three friends from the same school.

Thanks, I am well on the road to recovery now.
I know of several people who are also sick with pneumonia too. & they aren't old like me. I hope your nephew & his friends have all recovered well.

Good to see you on the up side of down. Old? "...they aren't old like me...." How old is old? Old is when you have something go wrong and things don't get better, they get worse. Now that is old. If you are recovering then you are not old.

Through my 70s I used to wonder if I could have a mid life crisis. Now on the cusp of 85 I look at wrinkles and blemishes, health issues and wonder how did I get to live inside this old body.

Just had follow up appointment/x-rays, the damn pneumonia is still present in both lungs, but much reduced now. No more antibiotics allowed for me apparently- hopefully it buggers off soon.
Mudah mudahan

Hopefully it buggers off. When Covid was about Australians went into panic buying for toilet paper. Not sure what you are supposed to stock up on with pneumonia. I guess rest is still the best thing.

I see Jakarta is reporting 200 new COVID cases a day. People on the move now with Christmas travel. May get interesting what the government fails again to do if it starts climbing with the mudik spread.

Covid (new variant EG5) numbers in The Netherlands has been climbing since early September. How do they know? From samples taken in the sewer system all across the country. Been implemented since 2021. That's why the Dutch can get a covid vaccin for free again.
