Oil company transformation in Riau Province. First we familiar with Caltex for many years. And then became Chevron but now Rumbai Camp operate by Indonesia National Oil Company PHR Pertamina Hulu Rokan. W/rgds

I guess Caltex was rather recent in Indonesia, 30 years or so. And where I come from, the Caltex gas stations changed to Texaco at the time.

That field in Pekanbaru is one of the oldest ones in the country. Did Pertamina not already take over the Rokan oil field from Chevron some years ago? Perhaps @Wisnu will know.

It‘s quite interesting to see how many state owned companies (BUMN) there still are in Indonesia after nationalization. And that for a country which despises communist doctrines.

I recall, the rokan block officialy handed over to pertamina in mid 2021. The negotiation took years.
I dont really follow the Indonesia Migas. A bit disappointed with Masela. Bad ad for investor. dont expect to meet the lifting target.
can only take deep breath with the recent catastrophic

For those not aware, migas stands for minyak dan gas, so the oil and gas industry.

The Masela project concerns a natural gas field with a rather promising potential in the southern Moluccan islands. It is managed by the Japanese oil company Inpex. There were issues and Shell withdrew as operator. I don’t think they have a replacement yet.

So now the government is doing some damage control and trying to convince the investors that everything goes according to plan. But initially they spoke about 2027 and Inpex mentions 2030 at the earliest.

I am local pekanbaru residence. We did for long time history with Caltex. Recently Rumbai office operated by PHR after take over Rokan block. The Governor of Riau mr
Syamsuar was very upset with PHR coz since phr runing Rokan block there are 3 accident happened.

Not easy to get replacement if the policy - pagi kedelai and sore tempe (morning soybean, afternoon tempe). Even if they get, then the cost of onshore option could be higher than offshore option (FLNG) which was agreed, but then changed later to onshore for the sake of cost and benefit to local community. With the recent earthquake on tanimbar islands, the onshore plant shall be designed to be more conservative. I recall a discussion with Archandra thahar in Bandung, he complaint about very conservative and gold plate of shell's offshore design.
I doubt 2030 or even 2035 we'll have something there. I wish I'm wrong.
