Regional co-operation should take care of that. Courtesy of Indonesia, they can be armed with durian, coconuts and nangka, plus very large papaya (the same ones used by the Indonesian airforce becuse bombs are too expensive). The ancient argument, the so called. "Nuclear Deterrent". But I understand with AUKUS deal the is powered by Nuclear. It is not intended to be equipped with nuclear warhead Missiles.
How much money has been burnt for the war machines. Is it not better to be used to fight hunger in the least developed countries ??
Any proof of that ? Written report, video ?Must be at least 15 years since Putin said quite publicly that he wanted to take back all of the old soviet states.
If he wanted them to lean towards Russia, he should have made Russia a place that people want to lean towards. The fact that they all want to lean towards the EU and the US tells his own story about the decline of Russia. Now, that he wanted them to stay in the Russian sphere or influence instead of leaning over to the EU, yes that is clear.
He should have jumped over the moon while he was at it. They lean toward the EU because of money. There's more economic benefit in association with the EU than with Russia. There's no way that Putin or anyone could have pulled Russia ahead of the EU economically. If he wanted them to lean towards Russia, he should have made Russia a place that people want to lean towards. Who is leaning towards the US ? The BRICS countries ?The fact that they all want to lean towards the EU and the US tells his own story about the decline of Russia.

The old Soviet states.Who is leaning towards the US ? The BRICS countries ?
As Mr Putin will doubtless explain after Ukraine has been "deNazified" the suggestion that all the above states prefer a Western alliance is just US propaganda. In due course these countries might also have to be "deNazified."The old Soviet states.
Czech, Poland, Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, Slovakia, Georgia, Ukraine, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Romania, Slovenia, Croatia, etc etc
Oil production has increased compared to prewar. (But not the revenue).
This is utterly untrue that the economic reason is a primary one. Any country that experienced being under the Soviet booth, knows what means to be run by the Russians. They lean toward the EU because of money. There's more economic benefit in association with the EU than with Russia. There's no way that Putin or anyone could have pulled Russia ahead of the EU economically.
In his speech, Putin reached back far further than the cold war to find his grievances. He stated clearly that the processes that led to Russia losing territory a century ago must be reversed. He pointed out what he said were catastrophic mistakes by the Bolsheviks in recognising Ukraine as a republic, and ceding land to end the war with Germany in 1918. He lamented the loss not of the Soviet Union, but of the “territory of the former Russian empire”Any proof of that ? Written report, video ?
Because IMO he never said that.
Now, that he wanted them to stay in the Russian sphere or influence instead of leaning over to the EU, yes that is clear. But he never ever said he wanted to invade any one. Anyway 15 years ago Russia was still very weak.
My point is on the (non) effectiveness of sanctions. So anything 2018 / 2020 is irrelevant from that point of view. Can you back that up as i looked it up and it just is not true. Compared maybe to the worst of the covid time in 2021 but still significantly down vs early 2020 or even back to 2018. As for the fabricating thousands of shells etc it is well documentated that they have been asking china, iran etc for help with supplies and have been forced to reactive very very old equipment.

Putin’s speech harked back to Russia’s empire – the threat doesn’t end with Ukraine | Keir Giles
Moscow is acting with total disregard for European norms. The west’s line of military defence must now be bolstered, says Keir Giles of Chatham Housewww.theguardian.com
Yeah that too. But mainly the economics. They can have personal freedoms and their chosen form of government without affiliation with the EU.This is utterly untrue that the economic reason is a primary one. European ex-soviet countries are leaning toward the EU in the first place because they do not want anything to have with Russia ever, they have military protection, democracy and personal freedoms, and a better economy.
Be that as it may, there are seven former Soviet States have joined NATO and after seeing what has happened with the unaligned Ukraine I imagine those new NATO members are very happy they joined up.Yeah that too. But mainly the economics. They can have personal freedoms and their chosen form of government without affiliation with the EU.
