Novak Djokovic fights against deportation

It will be a shame now not winning AO after causing all this mess. But still high probability for deportation anyway.

So now it turns out
1) he broke Serbian Covid rules after testing positive on 16 Dec, by mingling with the public on 17th and 18th.
2) There is great doubt as to whether he was really infected on 16th, since he was meant to provide the basis for exemption by 10 Dec, so to say it is "convenient" to then get Covid on 16th is an understatement. Without that "lucky" infection he could not have flown to Aus.
3) He lied on his application form by saying "no" to the question if he intends to travel in the 14 days before travelling to Aus, because he was in Belgrade on 25 December and in Spain on 31 December.

The Aus government has plenty of reasons to ban him, and to rescue their attempts to get their own citizens to follow the rules. Whether they do so at this point is purely political.

Looking all that up was 10 minutes of my life wasted.

Serbia in my experience is somewhat corrupt ,I have no doubt a local hero could get whatever phony docs he needs .

Die spiegel have done some digging and the PCR results look v dodgy.

If you and I were found to have made a false declaration our visa would be cancelled. That Djokovic has a small army of lawyers and others trying to "fix" things up for him ought not allow him special privileges. No doubt the entry requirements are messy and confusing but when it comes to immigration rules there are no ifs and buts. Getting it wrong is the applicant's responsibility.

And the real champion, not accepting defeat and defiant, appeals. If the Government loses again what will happen?

He has lied and gamed the system so much, in Serbia and Spain, as well as Australia, that he'd be better just going home and trying to rescue his reputation. Sponsors, future tournaments, his role as head of the players union, it's all looking bad for him now.

For the Australians here, what would public reaction be if he finally gains entry?

The victory was short lived. After the court overturned the Australian Border Force decision to cancel his visa, the pin up boy for anti vaxxers Novak Djokovic didn't win his battle against the Minister of Immigration who exercised his power to revoke his visa on the grounds of health and good oder. The Federal court ruling was in favour of the Immigration minister and as a result, Novax will be deported immediately. I heard his flight is schedule to leave Melbourne around 10 pm.
