New Currency By End Of The Year

New currencies coming along. New heroes any way. Only one Woman. No chance yet for dropping some zeros.

Coins should be scraped, zeros dropped to ease calculations, new 10 000 rp note looks a bit scary.

As a comparison, and this was policy set by the previous military government, here in Myanmar, none of the banknotes feature any people on them whatsoever. Buildings and mythological creatures abound. Good policy as if someone falls out of favor, no need to redesign the currency. I wonder what Thailand is going to do when their king, who is on every single bill and coin they issue, dies. Something that will happen soon, if it hasn't already happened.

I think Indionesia's plastic-alloy coins are kinda neat, but again to refer back to another SE Asian country, Myanmar has no coins and I don't miss them. The smallest bill is the 50 Kyat note (=400 Rupiah) and that and the 100 Kyat note are small change that invariably tremendously beat up and not worth replacing by the central bank. Point being, the bills remain in my wallet and get spent whereas coins end up on the desk and get collected.

Only millions Waarmy...I tell everyone in Canada I'm a BILLIONAIRE....reside in a tropical VILLA...have a CHAUFFEUR and LIMO...and employ STAFF.

Reality is...the money is in Rp's ...our villa is a small house...chauffeur is our driver...the limo is a 5 year old Avanza and staff is our part-time pembantu.

Dropping 4 would make the value more similar to some prominant currencies (euro, USD, AUD, SGD), but would be a more difficult mental transition for Indonesians. I say just drop 3 zeros, people are already very accustomed to dropping the 'ribu'. It seems like half of resturaunts and warungs already drop 3 zeros on menus, and in my experience asking for prices people only say "ribu" up to "sepuluh ribu", above that it's just "lima belas", "lima puluh", etc.

Most look to be politicians of some sort or another. I agree, too bad more ladies were not chosen with the likes of people like Kartini out there who have probably done more for the nation then a lot of the men.

Remember three years ago with the infamous drop op three digits? Never happened and it took exactly one year (ya, satu tahun) to get a bit of a newer 100.000 and 2.000 note.

So they announce in August a complete set of notes before the end of the year? My guesstimate is October 2017....think we should have a friendly bet.
