new covid new lockdowns?

The problem with this is that since covid people freak out as soon as someone coughs or sneezes. Some of the most common and natural things ever with various of causes.

As for stay at home, I remember my boss wasn't too happy about me staying at home with coughing, fever was the minimum.😉
So people have to work sick, why not spend your little free time being a bit sick? Yeah..we probably shouldn't do it, but did the world ever work like that? People usually only stay at home when they really can't get out of bed anymore.
I disagree .. long time ago. I was a manager too. Analyzing the numbers of sick leaves (mind you in The Netherlands is paid sick leaves), I told employees to stay home when sick with signs of flu. This was before Covid. Makes no sense to me that one person potentially infecting others, causing the flu (also a serious illness) to spread like a wave. I have seen this year after year in my department (of 2000 employees). Expensive for the employer. The quality of the work done by the sick employees is also questionable. That the reason why in The Netherlands employees can get a flu vaccin jab for free, every year in november. Also the eldery get an invitation for a flu vaccin jab.
For me personally, I find it a waist of time being sick. So, I try to avoid situations (in restaurants, movie theater, ..) where there are clearly people with signs of cold or flu.

It's not like I disagree with you and you are a good example then. I just have different experiences, maybe in recent years things shifted, I don't know. Most people I know didn't stay at home with some coughing, as I said. (And in Germany there are also paid sick days). But they also didn't work for any big companies, more like local middle class companies. Being sick, unless seriously, wasn't a thing.
I also wish the world would work with more common sense, but often it doesn't happen. As you said, it doesn't make sense to risk all employees being sick because they get infected by others. Maybe this is more a problem for the "traditional hard worker" where the company can barely compensate the work force of a or too many sick leaves.

So yeah on this point I agree with you. But not nearly all bosses think like that from my experience.

As for the FL surgeon general. I think his qualifications have been shown to be worthless by many health organizations and reported in the medias as such.
I forgot to ask you about this statement. What part of being Harvard educated and a former researcher at UCLA makes him worthless? I have never seen a story that attacks his credentials other than he bucks the vaccine and masking trend and gets labeled a quack like any other doctor that doesn't follow the narrative.

I guess you probably looked up his education and career but did you notice anything about his controversies? Like, altering reports on covid, promoting unproven and untested treatments for covid, his positions against trans treatments and counselings, and the written reports from the CDC that his views go against even testing and proven science.

:sleep: wear a mask, don't wear a mask. accept experimental injections, don't accept experimental injections.

Your choice.

I have strong feelings & beliefs about the whole "covid-19" episode, but I know people who have beliefs that are diametrically opposed to my own. What can I do?

have a nice day!

Bacially what I said. He doensn't support the narrative so they don't like him. His education and carreer are impecable. Don't see the problem in not wanting to cut off a minors genitals as well. Call me old fashioned.

Then he could easily counsel the family against it but since he is against counseling them, I guess he won't. The trans issue has nothing to do with altering CDC reports to fit his untested narratives. I don't care if he's for or against vaccinations. At least since he is a man of science he could follow the science and not promote treatments that have been tested and found to not work.

It happened to quite a few doctors and other people with an excellent reputation/education, worldwide. And then people who have no clue about medical stuff chose a side and started bashing these doctors and each other.

With the energy that was spent and lost on senseless, meaningless internet fights in the last few years you could fuel the whole world for several decades.😅

The stories I have seen are a little misleading and mostly sound like a hit job. The CDC and FDA really seem to be more upset that he advocated the use of the VAERS and tried to claim that an increase in the VAERS reports may actully mean that something COULD be wrong with the vaccines. Like I said before the governement doesn't want to puslish those numbers which is rather odd if evertyhing is above board. Try to referece VAERS and nodody wants to hear the numbers because they come from it but on the other hand the governement doesn't publish any numbers for anyone to reference. Maybe it's just me that sees a problem with that.

Maybe you can put together information you want for your personal decisions here.

Are you saying I have no clue about medicine or public health? Are you saying everyone discussing covid and/or vaxs here have no clue?

Whether we have multiple degrees or never went to school we all have to make decisions about many things with little knowledge about the matter in hand. In making a decision to get on a tram I do so with little understanding as to how they work, what their safety record is and how hazardous they are if the tram I am on has an accident. We all have to make decisions across a lifetime about health issues with most of us having little medical knowledge but that does not mean to say that our decision making is necessarily wrong or flawed. Across history there have been traditions of treatment used by the most authoritative doctors and specialists which have later turned out to be wrong and not infrequently fatal. Specialist, doctors, priests and other groups invariably use language that is not understood by the uninitiated and often deliberately so to be above the common herd. Questioning the authorities without having a full grasp of the relevant science does not disqualify any of us from a natural scepticism that the protocols of today may be wrong.

Gatwick Airport near London is canceling 164 flights this week, 25 September 2023, due to a shortage of air traffic controllers. One in three is at home sick, partly due to corona infections.

Until next Sunday, the number of aircraft allowed to take off or land per day is limited to 800.

Oh this is great! So it begins again? I hope not. I'm not sure who benefits from this, big Pharma medical research facilities? Everyone else is barely getting by, and don't need another shutdown! Is this new addition to the virus really true? Oh well, better get to where you want to be stuck for awhile again if this happens!

Well, I noticed here in Jakarta ... a lot of people have a cold and are coughing. My wife and I having the same symptoms. I suspect Covid19 new variant, but we are not going to test it.

Why not test it?
Couple of weeks ago (see post #97), I asked management of the gym to put up a sign "stay home when you have symptoms of covid19". The answer I got back was "we follow the regulation of government regarding Covid19".

So, saya juga ikut aja regulation goverment .. or better to say .. there is no regulation about testing covid19 now. 🤣 Just spreading the virus ... huh news.

Everyone's coughing in Jakarta these days from the pollution

I've been told the test is a way of the Government to pierce the fragile lining at the top of your nasal system to make you more likely to get sick. I haven't heard of one person enjoying that test. Have you?
