looking for a job, husband and wife.

my husband was a interior worker in the US……..anyone willing to help us?
I know someone in my family-in-law who is an interior designer, with quite some projects. But honestly, talking with her we saw a lot of hurdles, such as: As a CV, she can not hire TKA. The salaries here are much much lower than in the US. Someone‘s BI has to be impeccable to be able to visit clients and work there. The working culture here is different from the west, ….
So I’m not optimistic about his possibilities.

Hi, my name is Kartinem, my husband is US citizen(English native speaker),we're looking for a job, he's been living in Indonesia for 2 years without a job, I was nanny for 10 years in HK for one family/boss, my husband was a interior worker in the US.
we have financial difficulty and also we have 9 months baby girl.
anyone here willing to help us? we both only high school graduated.
any help would be appreciated.
thank you so much.
As an American expat that has lived in Indonesia for many years, I may have some more specific advice to offer your husband. But it's best if he contacts me directly on this forum through a private message.

Do you mean she legally changed it (by court order) and then updated all her documents (KK, KTP, Passport , SIM etc) with the new surname? Or that she just uses it informally.

informally Herbert. :) that's why I smiled :p

Joke aside; She has the chance to change it in my embassy ( valid only in my country though )

My wife formally added my family name to her name. No foreign passports. It is now part of her Indonesian name.

There are of course several steps to go through.
The court will request an OJK clearance as proof that the name change is not for debt avoidance.
Once you have the positive court ruling, you need to change the birth certificate before anything else,

We did everything 100% without lawyers or agents. Besides the needed visits to court, government offices, it was actually pretty easy and very cheap. Of course you need to put the required care on preparing the paperwork etc. to avoid repeated returns for each step.

What is the need for doing that if your intention is to stay in Indonesia? The vast majority of Indonesians get married, but they do not change their name to follow their husband's family name (if any). I believe it is due to the hassles, Example of the hassles:
  • Court ruling
  • Change Birth Certificate
  • Change Family Registration card
  • Change the ID Card
Additionally, you might need to apply for a job and you need to show your school or university diploma/certificate under a different name. On this occasion, you must show both legal documents to prove that you are the same person.

Especially for wives, if they get divorced and get married again, what is going to happen? Change the name again?

I wonder, is there any real benefit of doing that

Needs? Benefit? Same as in any other country on the topic of names after marriage.
Simple preference. Do as you want 🙃
