Eh, it's true that anal sex is more likely to transmit HIV as compared to vaginal sex. Not all sex acts are equal when it comes to STD transmission.

But homosexuality isn't a sex act, it's a sexual orientation. People can be gay, I mean Liberace gay, and never in their lives have anal sex or any other kind of sex. They aren't defined by anal sex, they're defined (sexually) by who they love.

And besides, lesbians have the LOWEST possible transmission rate for HIV. Clearly we should ban all penetrative sex and all future births will be facilitated by turkey basters.

I'm almost amused when people like this try to pretend that they give a shit about stopping the spread of HIV. With such low rates of education, testing, and treatment, it should be obvious to anyone with half a brain that stigma is the real killer. I guaran-fucking-tee that criminalizing HIV or any specific group deemed as "high risk" will only increase infection rates! Dumbasses. They're probably cheating on their spouses with sex workers and not getting tested. But yeah, let's blame the gays.

This is my thought exactly each and every time some religious leader declares that condom distribution and sexual health education programs spreads the attitude of "free love" thus promoting sin and all that uneducated bullshit. Also when my friend was diagnosed with full blown AIDS she was given the choice of whether she wanted to disclose the fact she had the disease or keep it secret, thus effectively making the statistics on Indonesian HIV and AIDS rates completely useless.

WillK is right. I was using sarcasm, so I'm sorry if that was unclear. I agree with your statements above. Personally, I think it's our responsibility to make sure the young have the facts and a pocketful of condoms before we let them stumble along.

I'm not sure about your 2nd paragraph.. it seems like your two statements contradict one another. It would seem crazy to me if each person could choose whether or not to be registered with the Ministry of Health or Health Department or whomever it is over here, so I'm wondering if anyone else has more info on that.
